Waiting acceptance/rejection letter....

Published

Hey everyone, I currently applied to the nursing program at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL. I am just so stressed out thinking about if I got in or not and just wanna know so badly. My school requires a minimum 2.0 GPA to apply and acceptance is based on a point system. You can receive points by how high your GPA is in the prerequisites which are A&P1, Microbio, English Comp, General Psych, College Algebra, and a humanities. I got an A everything except in college algebra (B) and in my humanities (B+). So my GPA is a 3.78 which is pretty good. They also require a minimum score of a 77% on both the reading and math sections of the HESI A2. I got a 95.75% on the reading, and a 90% in the math. As for the point system, there is a total of 108 max points one can acquire, and I have 85. People are given 10pts if they are reapplying, 3pts if they serve(d) in the military, and 5pts if they have a CNA license (but still the max points is 108). Oh and I'm Hispanic and a male. The college takes 140 students and 10% of those students is based on diversity. I don't know, what do you guys think of my chances of getting in are? The stress and wait is killin me!!!

I wish I could help you out, but I really have no idea your chances of getting in. Unfortunately, sometimes it depends on how well everyone else has done when they are applying. I think your scores look pretty well and I wish you the best of luck. The wait can be atrocious and stressful. When will you find out?

Looks like you have some awesome numbers. Like the above post, it all depends on the talent pool that applied. I think you have a great chance, but my opinion doesn't matter. I am also waiting for a letter for a college in Oklahoma. Good luck to you!

Like the above two responses, with all of the other factors, you really just have to wait and see. I know that it is nerve racking, I too, am waiting for a response from IU - Indianapolis. I'm trying to stay positive and not worry, but it's hard not to think about a plan B, just in case. Good Luck to you!!

You have enough information that you ought to be able to calculate your chances yourself. You say you're 5 points off of the max (sans prior military, CNA cert, and reapplication) and that your odds are increased by 10% due to cultural diversity standards. Stop braggin' and start number crunching ;)

Good Luck!! :)

Thanks guys I need all the encouragement I can get. As in any other school, it is so competitive and I am just a mess not knowing how this is going to go. I find out sometime in June and will def. let u guys know.

Sounds like you definitely earned a spot in the upcoming class! :yeah: It stinks that you have to wait so long to find out if you were accepted or not. Best of luck!

I am betting you got in. You had better come back and update us!

I'm awaiting the same type of letter.

I'm a 40 year male with good test scores but zero health experience (other than as a very sick patient).

Good Luck to you.

Brag all you want. Those classes are extremely difficult. Good for you :lol2:. Considering your stats and the fact that you're a male, chances are great!!

Haha...join the club. I, too, am waiting for an acceptance letter and it is killn' me. I understand your anxiety. Your numbers look good, but you just don't know if they are good enough. It all comes down to the total applicant pool and what they are bringing to the table. I can pretty much bet my life that there are ALOT of us feeling the same way. I won't know until mid July  !

Good Luck to you!

Seriously, why do they do this to us? Grades were reported last Thursday, but we won't know until June 14th (around that time). It really takes an entire month? Don't they have computers? It makes me think that they are including something more than just the interview and the gpa. I'm trying to stay busy, but I put so much in to these pre-req's that if I don't get in, I'll be ticked. My application GPA was around 3.9, but we have to interview and that makes up 40%. Did I tank the interview? What if they just didn't like me? All of these silly questions. I guess I am playing the waiting game, too.
