Hey everyone, I currently applied to the nursing program at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL. I am just so stressed out thinking about if I got in or not and just wanna know so badly. My school requires a minimum 2.0 GPA to apply and acceptance is based on a point system. You can receive points by how high your GPA is in the prerequisites which are A&P1, Microbio, English Comp, General Psych, College Algebra, and a humanities. I got an A everything except in college algebra (B) and in my humanities (B+). So my GPA is a 3.78 which is pretty good. They also require a minimum score of a 77% on both the reading and math sections of the HESI A2. I got a 95.75% on the reading, and a 90% in the math. As for the point system, there is a total of 108 max points one can acquire, and I have 85. People are given 10pts if they are reapplying, 3pts if they serve(d) in the military, and 5pts if they have a CNA license (but still the max points is 108). Oh and I'm Hispanic and a male. The college takes 140 students and 10% of those students is based on diversity. I don't know, what do you guys think of my chances of getting in are? The stress and wait is killin me!!!
Congrats! I did my NS prereqs at SFC over the last fall/spring, so I know how many people apply to their program. The points system is so stressful, I feel! I was shocked to find out that students could basically buy themselves an advantage by paying for membership in some student society, or by taking a CNA class, or any of the other "extra" points, and that no personal statement, etc was ever considered! You must have been stressing out pretty hardcore - so go out and celebrate!! :)
Ambition Congrats!!! I have to go on YouTube to see those posts. That is crazy. Good luck and I hope that this experience is all that we hope it to be. Also, jus a note, I hear that it is hard for new grad nurses to find employment in specific areas of the US, so ask around and see what the new grad employment rate is in your area. Also, start asking how to get your foot in the door. Start early and GOOD LUCK again!!! Wooohoooo!
Congrats! Now get to work! Just kidding....kinda. I just finished my first semester of an ASN program, and have been studying all summer for the 2nd semester. I wish I had pre-read stuff before my 1st, but we didn't get our book list until first day of class. Good luck! It takes forever to get that letter, but then the first semester is over before you know it!
Enjoy it!
I got my letter this afternoon...............first word on there was, Congratulations!!!!! Oh my god I can't tell you guys how excited and thrilled I am :) No more worrying at night or psyching myself out! Going out to celebrate now but will be back soon!!!
