Waiting acceptance/rejection letter....

Published

Hey everyone, I currently applied to the nursing program at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL. I am just so stressed out thinking about if I got in or not and just wanna know so badly. My school requires a minimum 2.0 GPA to apply and acceptance is based on a point system. You can receive points by how high your GPA is in the prerequisites which are A&P1, Microbio, English Comp, General Psych, College Algebra, and a humanities. I got an A everything except in college algebra (B) and in my humanities (B+). So my GPA is a 3.78 which is pretty good. They also require a minimum score of a 77% on both the reading and math sections of the HESI A2. I got a 95.75% on the reading, and a 90% in the math. As for the point system, there is a total of 108 max points one can acquire, and I have 85. People are given 10pts if they are reapplying, 3pts if they serve(d) in the military, and 5pts if they have a CNA license (but still the max points is 108). Oh and I'm Hispanic and a male. The college takes 140 students and 10% of those students is based on diversity. I don't know, what do you guys think of my chances of getting in are? The stress and wait is killin me!!!

hey my purpose, I feel exactly the same! The nursing advisor at my school told me to wait till mid June, or early July.......REALLY??!! Luckily though we did not have to do an interview because I am honestly exhausted with all the hoops we have to jump through just to be eligible to apply. I want to start the actual nursing courses so freakin' bad already! Good luck to you and keep us posted with the decision.

I am in the same situation. I am cooling my heels waiting for a school to accept me. I have a about 12 more days of waiting. And I am stressing OUT! I don't know what I will do if I get in. And I don't know what I will do if I don't get in!

Well just found out that there were only 300 applicants this year. This is actually good because last year there were like 400. So now I have a 50/50 chance of getting in. Will keep you guys posted, and good luck to everyone else enduring this torturous wait.

Ambition2012, don't stress I'm in the same boat as you..I've applied and won't hear back until next week but the deadline was April 1 for fall applications and grades went in May 13th..so I've been waiting quit some time. I'm sure you will get accepted, keep us posted though!

Hey Ambition2012, I have also applied to Santa Fe for the upcoming fall program for nursing. The next 3 weeks are going to be torture!! I am hoping and praying I get in also.

Sounds to me that you have a very good chance. Good luck and keep us posted.

Will move this to the general nursing student forum.

Ambition2012 - your application sounds strong, but it all depends on how strong the other applications are. My best advice is to sit tight and try not to think about it. (I know it's nearly impossible). I applied to my program the first week of August and I didn't find out until the second week in January. So, trust me: it's not worth stressing out over! I would've made myself sick if I constantly worried about it considering I waited over 5 months for a decision!! You've done the best you can and your application is in, so no amount of stress and worry will make the decision come quicker. You've done all you can. Sit back and trust that your hard work will pay off. Be realistic as well and have plan B in your back pocket, just in case. Good luck and let us know as soon as you have your decision!

Everyone, guess what? Acceptance letters came early and I GOT IN!!! Wow, I'm so excited and I have a long (I mean long) list of things that I must do before orientation. It's seems so surreal. :lol2: I'm really going to be a nurse!

Congratulations!! :yeah:

i think that you have a good chance of getting in that nursing program. is that the only nursing program you applied to? I know how you feel; I applied to UTHSC-SA (Jan 1, 2010) and got my acceptance letter on (April 3, 2010). So don't stress out, just stalk the mailman jk ;)

Congratulations my purpose!!!! That is so amazing and I am so happy for you :yeah:! Oh and guys.....thanks for all the encouragement you all have given me, it really helps a lot. The health sciences office posted on their website that they anticipate notification letters to be mailed out June 18th. It is good to know that the end of the wait is almost here, and that I can hopefully begin pursuing the biggest goal in my life. I have talked to several people on what to do just in case I do not get in and seems like everyone has a plan B. I know that it is best to have also have an alternative in mind but I have yet to do so...until now. I am going to be looking at other schools and applying because I just can't let it all ride on one school without a backup. Again, thanks for all the motivation and help from you guys. In about 2 weeks or so I will be giving you guys the news. Oh and just wondering....have you guys ever got so anxious that you've gone to youtube and looked up people opening their acceptance letters?? lol, very entertaining.
