Hey everyone, I currently applied to the nursing program at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL. I am just so stressed out thinking about if I got in or not and just wanna know so badly. My school requires a minimum 2.0 GPA to apply and acceptance is based on a point system. You can receive points by how high your GPA is in the prerequisites which are A&P1, Microbio, English Comp, General Psych, College Algebra, and a humanities. I got an A everything except in college algebra (B) and in my humanities (B+). So my GPA is a 3.78 which is pretty good. They also require a minimum score of a 77% on both the reading and math sections of the HESI A2. I got a 95.75% on the reading, and a 90% in the math. As for the point system, there is a total of 108 max points one can acquire, and I have 85. People are given 10pts if they are reapplying, 3pts if they serve(d) in the military, and 5pts if they have a CNA license (but still the max points is 108). Oh and I'm Hispanic and a male. The college takes 140 students and 10% of those students is based on diversity. I don't know, what do you guys think of my chances of getting in are? The stress and wait is killin me!!!
Ambition2012 - your application sounds strong, but it all depends on how strong the other applications are. My best advice is to sit tight and try not to think about it. (I know it's nearly impossible). I applied to my program the first week of August and I didn't find out until the second week in January. So, trust me: it's not worth stressing out over! I would've made myself sick if I constantly worried about it considering I waited over 5 months for a decision!! You've done the best you can and your application is in, so no amount of stress and worry will make the decision come quicker. You've done all you can. Sit back and trust that your hard work will pay off. Be realistic as well and have plan B in your back pocket, just in case. Good luck and let us know as soon as you have your decision!
Congratulations my purpose!!!! That is so amazing and I am so happy for you ! Oh and guys.....thanks for all the encouragement you all have given me, it really helps a lot. The health sciences office posted on their website that they anticipate notification letters to be mailed out June 18th. It is good to know that the end of the wait is almost here, and that I can hopefully begin pursuing the biggest goal in my life. I have talked to several people on what to do just in case I do not get in and seems like everyone has a plan B. I know that it is best to have also have an alternative in mind but I have yet to do so...until now. I am going to be looking at other schools and applying because I just can't let it all ride on one school without a backup. Again, thanks for all the motivation and help from you guys. In about 2 weeks or so I will be giving you guys the news. Oh and just wondering....have you guys ever got so anxious that you've gone to youtube and looked up people opening their acceptance letters?? lol, very entertaining.

hey my purpose, I feel exactly the same! The nursing advisor at my school told me to wait till mid June, or early July.......REALLY??!! Luckily though we did not have to do an interview because I am honestly exhausted with all the hoops we have to jump through just to be eligible to apply. I want to start the actual nursing courses so freakin' bad already! Good luck to you and keep us posted with the decision.
