I tried to log onto SCORE but the system won't let me in, I used my External ID and last 4...Did I do something wrong?

I agree with BDanders, if you are already accepted at a Community College jump on it. Emory is highly competitive, which means there is no guarantee you will be accepted. You can always transfer to a traditional college after completing the ADN program at the Community College.

Bailey, it's not on their website, I didn't find out until I talked to the Program Director and you aren't required to submit SAT scores or take any test to get into the program if you have a degree. It's a cumulative GPA, like you stated. If you do choose GHC and apply to the Marietta campus, the good news is, they have a scholarship program there through Wellstar Hospital and if you get accepted Wellstar will pay your tuition in exchange for a 3 year commitment to work for them. I will keep you updated on my status, I'm praying I get in so I can give you more info....I wish you the best of luck, I'm sure you will get accepted into a nursing program soon!

Bailey, I totally understand..we are in the same boat, I graduated with a BA degree some years back and decided I wanted to become a nurse. I applied to GA Highlands College back in March and waiting on a response from them now, acceptence letter go out June 10th. Good thing about GA Highland ADN program is that people with post baccalaureate degrees are given preference because the program is based on a calulated score to get in. Before applying to the program I sat for about 30 mins with the Program Coordinator and she outlined the program for me. Basically she told me if you have at least a 2.5 graduating gpa your chances were good at getting into the program, you are already given a score of 1,100 for having a degree and last year the lowest score that was excepted into the program 900 for fall admissions, spring is generally slightly higher but I think you still have a chance of getting in. If you look on the GHC acceptence threads you will see people talking about their experiences at the college. If you apply now I'm sure you will get in by Spring, the deadline is Sept 15. Also, the program is based in Rome GA but they have a satellite campus in Marietta, which would be closer to where you live. That's the only I applied to because I live in Smyrna. I lived in Savannah for about a year or so, it is truely a beautiful city and alot to explore. The area I lived in was considered midtown, only a walk to the city park (Forsyth Park), that's the place you really want to be. It's also a college town, you have SCAD unversity that brings a diversity of students from around to world to Savannah every year, Savannah State (historically black college) and Armstrong University which is really in the suburbs of Savannah. Even though I've never used public transportation, its seems to get everyone around the city. Buses are everywhere but I think that's also because of the large population of students downtown. Unlike the previous poster, I find the cost of living very exmemberive compared to where I live now (Atlanta) because it's a tourist city and there are alot of historic homes/river front homes/beach front homes which bring the cost of living up unless you choose to live away from the city. The city is thriving during the good months when school is in, with lots to do in and around downtown but on the downside when the kids leave, the city becomes dead. Most people either love it or hate Savannah, I find most people actually enjoy the city. I wish I could give you info on the hospitals but if I can remember correctly Memorial and St. Joseph's hospitals were the top hospitals in the area.

I was hoping it would be this week but I guess they pushed it back until next week. I'm going out of town on June 10 so I wouldn't know until I got back...that sucks

Have you tried Wellstar and Floyd Hospital? last time I check the website they were hiring for new grads.

Savannah, you will have a good shot at getting admitted...Have they already started sending out the acceptance letters? or will we have to wait until next week?

Ambition2012, don't stress I'm in the same boat as you..I've applied and won't hear back until next week but the deadline was April 1 for fall applications and grades went in May 13th..so I've been waiting quit some time. I'm sure you will get accepted, keep us posted though!

There are still cities with Nursing shortages...don't give up, you may need to relocate if need be

@ Gee, What made you move CA? from the reviews on the board, it's tough finding jobs period out there, that would be the last place I would move to.

@ Olive, when did you start working as an Extern? This is a career change for me becuase I already have my BA in another field. I'm main concern is a lapse in jobs while in school.

@ wanttobehappy, I think all the info was posted in another thread but here is the info I know. I'm told if you apply to the Marietta campus, Wellstar will email you a application packet to fill out and return for an interview. If the interview goes well and your selected (I think they only take 25 students a semester) then you will be placed at the Marietta campus. Wellstar will cover your tuition after you complete your first semester at GA highlands, I'm told you will get money back you paid for the first semester once you complete it. Students also said they didn't hear from Wellstar until like a week before classes started. Also, once you commit to the Wellstar contract, you have to work for Wellstar for the agreed time (2 yrs) the loan to be forgiven I hope that helps you some because I plan to appy for the program if I get accepted into the nursing program at GA Highlands

Where are you currently living where they have a nurse shortage? I would expore my options of maybe moving before entering the military, you can still find jobs in a city with nursing shorages...I worked for the military for many years and it's not worth it, trust me

I plan to enroll in a nursing program as a student in the fall, I can only go by what my landlord tells me but I hear the make upwards to 30+ and hr. I love the Marietta area, I acually live in Smyrna though, it boarders Marietta....you get the best of both worlds, the suburbs of the city without being in the City of Atlanta, it's plenty to do here, you have the Atlanta Zoo, Georgia Aquarium, Six Flags and of course the dining and nightlife here
