Vanderbilt Pre-Specialty Applicants 2014

Published

Hey everyone! I couldn't find this thread anywhere so figured that I would start one for all of us who applied to Vanderbilt's Pre-Specialty Entry program (for non-RNs) this fall. I applied for the PMHNP specialty. What about you?! :)

Lucy, you called admissions or your specialty?

From what I've heard, you need a 3.9 or 4.0 GPA and at least 90th percentile GRE scores to receive an invitation to apply for the full ride, and these invitations are sent out with acceptance letters. The smaller merit scholarships are disclosed later on in the financial aid offer, I think.

Ahhh! I cant believe this week is here... I cant decide if I am glad I am so busy this week, or if I wish I were going to be home so I could check my snail mail! Good luck to all!

Congrats... It's a great program. It will go very fast. I know someone who is in the FNP program.

I've applied for AG-PCNP program... looking forward to the decision..

Specializes in Pediatric Emergency.

Seconding what mentalhealthadvocate asked, are you guys calling your speciality or just the main admissions office? I'm so antsy. I just want to know before I leave the country as I won't be home to check my mail!

I'm sure you could just call whoever and tell them that. If you have the wrong department, they will transfer you. They're running behind and you need to know!

I just called them. The lady looked me up and said they still haven't made the decision.. told me to call me back Friday. Ugh, I hate waiting!!!

I called ******* Asst Director of Admissions. She seemed like she had heard from a million and one of us in the last two days, but she let me know that they will be sending a letter out AND updating our status on the application page. She let me know that it would happen either today or tomorrow. They're doing their best!

Thanks gsills! I was hoping they would spend their energy updating statuses online rather than stuffing envelopes at this point..

Any of you who have already been given a decision - did it show up on your online application statues? I've been checking mine all week and nothing so far.

I would just add that you should not call your specialty directly, as they will not be able to tell you anything unless they happen to have your file in front of them. NMW faculty specifically requested that applicants not call them directly for this reason, so I assume the other specialties are similar.

I just called admissions. She said "they're planning on sending letters out today but looks like you're gonna be waitlisted". I'm not sure how I feel! I guess I'm just happy that there's still a chance. And I applied direct entry CNM...So any of you out there that are debating ;) haha
