Hey everyone! I couldn't find this thread anywhere so figured that I would start one for all of us who applied to Vanderbilt's Pre-Specialty Entry program (for non-RNs) this fall. I applied for the PMHNP specialty. What about you?! :)
Well I'm visiting and going anyhow since there's no accepted students day. I'm making a trip out of to explore Nashville. I'm staying at a few airBnb places in East Nash. I applied to Psych NP pre-specialty meaning I have a BA in a field other than nursing. That's what this post is for no?
@heart_and_hands, did you apply prespecialty or direct entry for nmw?
@eap1992 I applied prespecialty (I thought direct-entry meant the same thing as prespecialty, though; whatever the label, I have a non-nursing BA so will be doing the full pre-specialty year). One of the things I like about Vandy is that acceptance to the accelerated post-bac nursing portion comes packaged with acceptance to your specific MSN specialty program- I really don't want to go through a second application process next fall!
Ah, apparently "direct entry" at Vanderbilt means entering with a BSN. (I've seen other schools define the term as directly entering a graduate program without a previous nursing degree.) So, by Vandy's definition, I'm not direct-entry. Sorry for the confusion!
I was also confused by this. So at Vandy pre-specialty does in fact mean what direct entry means at other schools? And when the heck is this notification happening!!!!!???
I keep checking my application page
From checking last year's forum, I don't think the application page will change to reflect an admissions decision. Mine still says "submitted" even though I know I'm accepted- there's a chance that could change once official letters are sent out, but I doubt it. I think they only notify by good old-fashioned snail mail.
