Vanderbilt MSN 2019

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi! I'm starting a thread for Fall 2019. Anyone else applying/re-applying too? Please comment!

One of the admissions directors said at the Open House that they are giving a couple days worth of 'leeway' on letters and transcripts to arrive because the application opened later than planned. However, I would recommend reaching out to Admissions just to confirm since meeting the priority deadline is so important for having the best chances for admission. Good luck! :)

I just applied to the prespecialty MSN today for Adult Gerontology! Does anyone have information about the class prospects from last year? GPA, etc....

If anyone can provide feedback. My undergraduate GPA is 3.1 and my graduate is GPA is 3.1 (Hey! i'm consistent...lol). Currently enrolled in half my science prereqs with a 3.5 at the moment. Lord help me!!! I also have over 10 years of experience as a social worker. Currently completing the AmeriCorps program and doing some screening for a diabetes prevention program. I'm definitely not the traditional student. Wondering if anyone has any feedback on this program or older people changing careers before it's too late!

Usually letters and transcripts are allowed to come in later, because admissions people know how letter writers can turn in things late, or at the last minute sometimes.

Transcripts and letters has to arrive before Nov. 1st priority deadline. I applied last year and due to my documents arriving after the Nov. 1st deadline my application was not "complete" until 11/14/17. I was a "second round applicant" and was ultimately wait listed. I was encouraged to reapply and make sure my documents are in before the priority date.

Hello!

I am a licensed clinical social worker with a little over 10 years of clinical experience working primarily in healthcare (acute inpt and outpt behavioral/mental health settings). I really can't speak to the Adult Gerontology program as I am interested in the PMHNP program. I think it is never too late to change career paths, especially if this has been a dream or goal of yours. I think your experience as a social worker will be extremely helpful as you make your career change. I know this is not much of feedback but more of motivation that you can do it ?

Hi. If you don't mind me asking what was your GPA when you applied last year?

@LCSWtoPMHNP Thanks for the info! She did end up turning it in yesterday but my anxiety waiting for that email was through the roof... Should've given all my writers an earlier deadline than the real one for my own sanity. Either way, everything is green!!! Congrats everyone who made the priority deadline!!

Does anyone know typically when start sending interview invites out?

Sure, no problem! But first let me say that I really do not know what my cumulative GPA is, meaning all my transcripts combined.

But here you go...

Undergraduate: 3.5

Graduate: 3.5

Prereqs: 3.6

I would have to go back and look at 2018 thread. I know I received my email interview invite late and interviewed on 2/21/18 but I was a second round applicant at that time.

Hi everyone:)

I'm so glad these forums exist, you're messages have all been very helpful.

I am coming in VERY late to the game here. I basically "discovered" Vanderbilt's prespecialty-entry msn program today, having been looking at schools in Florida for 2020. I was just wondering, with the priority deadline now past, does anyone think there is any chance of getting in for 2019?

The programs I had been looking at require additional prerequisites and the TEAS and so I knew there would be no way to get in for next year. But it seems Vanderbilt does not require GRE/TEAS and only has the core preqs. At the moment, I will have completed all my preqs by dec - except for Micro which I was planning to take in the spring. Thus, I would probably aim to submit my application by the beginning of December.

I'm wondering if a) I've lost my mind and am just very excited by the prospect of potentially being able to start nursing school next year or if b) there could actually be a chance to get in..?

I want to specialize is psych and my bachelor's is in psychology.

Undergrad GPA is 3.84 and prereq GPA is 4.0 (and I expect it to stay at 4 once I'm done with them all).

I currently work as a psychometrist at a private neuropsych practice.

Specializes in MSN, RN.
