so my graduating class just found out who will be representing our class as valedictorian and it's a student that was caught cheating on an exam. she was caught on camera and later admitted to the cheating. I feel someone like this should not represent our school or class as a valedictorian. It sets a bad example that cheating will be tolerated. there are many students that sacrifice so much for nursing and this bothers me that someone like this would be honored. she was caught once cheating but there could be other times she cheated and didnt get caught. I addressed this issue with administration. Please give me your opinion about this. Am I over thinking this?
Mirandaaa I agree and thats no way to run a program
...then I would continue with the protest.
She should have received a zero. I doubt she would have earned the right to be the top dog after getting a zero and possibly failing the class.
That would tick me off beyond belief.
PS: Check your school manual to make sure the nursing department didn't handle this "behind the scenes". Many schools REQUIRE cases of cheating to be reported to the Dean of Students and the registrar.
I thought I would suggest that the class write a group letter, signed by all concerned, (doubt the cheater would sign it!), and inform the administration about the group decision regarding graduation, however, from what I have seen, there would be retaliation. Best to organize a boycott of graduation without informing them beforehand.
The administration has cheapened your education. Someone should inform the state Board that standards are not being upheld, anonymously, of course.
What the.....who is she sleeping with?!
I wondered the same thing once and half jokingly questioned the same thing at new position I had. One of my peers gave me the old elbow in my ribs. Turned out there was a real affair going on among the top echelon and things were not very nice in the details.
never mind - not very charitable
Anxiety can cause anything they should gave her a chance, second time be with punishment .
What? Are you saying that anxiety may have caused her to cheat & she shouldn't be punished unless it happens a 2nd time? I'd say it's a safe bet that when she was caught, it was not the 1st time she'd cheated (otherwise, how fortunate to have caught the offense on camera).
