From the previous posts I've read the VA hiring process is pretty long and drawn out. I've applied to two different VA sites. The VA an hour away from my home I can always get in contact with a nurse recruiter and my application status for two posting says "referred to selecting official." The VA closest to my home, I can't get through to the recruiter, she emailed me back once and the status of all the apps just says "application received." I do know a nurse practitioner that works at this VA site and she tried to give my resume to the recruiter, but I had to apply online.
For those of you that are familiar with the hiring process, any idea what the next step is. In all there are around 20 RN vacancies. The two systems have two completely different online application submissions, how will I know if I've completed the application process correctly, its a little confusing
I've been applying since I've graduated and earlier this year I found out that I was applying the wrong way so those positions don't count. These positions closed in September.
Thanks in advance ?
Here is my experience so far.....Closing Date April19th. 1st interview April 28th. 2nd interview with the Chief of Nursing @ the facility was May 4th. Tentative offer (no salary discussed) May 11th. Background, drug, finger printing etc was May 24th in Salisbury NC (main office). Vet pro and all other requirements completed this day as well. Emailed HR today and they are waiting on Boarding. I feel like the process is going smooth and as quick as possible but the wait is HORRIBLE!!!! I leave to go on vacation next week and would love to have a firm offer before I leave so I can enjoy my vacation. Praying everything is finalized in the next week or 2. Good luck to all the ones waiting. I truly know your pain!
I just submitted my application June 12 close date. Received notification sent to manager on June 14th and emailed on 23rd for interview on June 27th, notified June 29th for tentative offer. I have been completing paperwork but have not heard of nine dimensions and still don't have a salary offer. This has moved very quick thus far.
My turn! This process feels slow as molasses but everyone's experience sharing is helping me be patient. It is very comforting to see the average wait from interview to start date is about 3 months. The VA HR department has been in close contact with me as my Vetpro timeline was incorrect and some of my previous employers were not responding to the VA employment verification communication. I hounded those two employers for two weeks, even stopped by one with a friendly "Hello! Remember me? Please respond to the VA NOW!"
Here is my timeline so far:
4/27/17 - FT position closed
5/24/17 - Interviewed with manager and 3 other staff members
5/26/17 - Received PT tentative offer, no discussion of pay but informed that PT employees can pick up extra shifts and work as much or as little as they like
6/19/17 - Physical and fingerprinting (two step PPD happened somewhere in here too)
6/20/17 - Received EQIP email
6/22/17 - Received Vetpro email
6/27/17 - Submitted Vetpro and EQIP
7/3/17 - Application Status changed from Reviewed to Selected on USAjobs website
7/6/17 - RESUBMITTED Vetpro as my original submitted work timeline was incorrect
7/12/17 - All previous employers show as VERIFIED in Vetpro (including current employer)
7/15/17 - NOW... just waiting patiently by my email box!
I will provide updates going forward...so much anticipation and excitement! Thanks everyone for sharing!
You would think that the process would be different for already VA employees transitioning from one position to another but it is not. I have been employed with VA for more than 5 years and recently completed and passed boards and still waiting on a position. I passed boards on June 9th and applied for position the very same day. Wasn't interviewed until July 10th. Still no word. I actually applied for several RN positions but only interviewed for 1. This wait is horrible but I am being patient for the perfect time. Good luck everyone

Update: just got sent my vetpro today. In order to move forward, I've been contacting people by email asking when will my next step happen. This is the slowest job I've ever had with any VA. Job offer was back in April. Smh
