UTMB Spring 2012

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

I want to try and get a meet up together. I kind of wanted to wait until we got a little bit closer till we start class.... I am sure people work right now while we arent in school and I currently have class so I am thinking maybe dinner and drinks one night?

I will post up if anything is arranged on facebook :)

my friend got her rejection letter today :( anyone else???

Also I see alot of you are searching for apartments near 45...dont rule out Hwy 146 as an option. I take 146 south and run it till it meets with 45 and it is a smooth ride with no fuss or traffic. Its just another option. There are ALOT of nice apartments on Hwy 96 in League City. Pretty sure they are more than signature point though... Signature point is pretty nice, BUT that highschool creates a headache and frankly I cant stand FM 518 as its normally a cluster of traffic!

Also, for those of you who will have room mates there are some pretty nice townhomes and manufactured homes for rent around me in a place caled Green Caye. These are big and pretty nice with decent rent. http://www.greencayevillage.com/

You can have BIG dogs as each unit has a yard that is maintained by the grounds people. In my opinion they are nicer than normal apartments and all units are on the first floor with parking directly outside your door. Smallest unit they have though is a 2 bedroom.

If anyone looks into these, I live about 5 seconds away so carpooling with me is always an option :) Oh and my drive is right at 27 miles or 25-30 minutes, from my driveway to the parking lot at the SON

WOW! I'm really sorry to hear about your friend! Do you know how her letter came? Email of regular mail? Does she have a back up plan? That's the first that anyone has posted about rejection. If they are starting to send those letters out now I wonder if they are done with invites/interviews?!? It was AMAZING to see that people were accepted the SAME day they interviewed. Wonder if Thursday was their last meeting?!?

I am pretty sure it came via regualr mail. She said she recieved it today and I DOUBT they would send rejection emails on a Saturday.

It is the first I heard of as well... I REALLY thought she would get in... or at least get an interview! I would assume that since a rejection letter has gone out that all spots have been spoken for at this point.

I thought it was pretty awesome that I had to wait less than 48 hours. Now if only that could have happened back in August...

Question... Is anyone going to be paying a car note while in school and not working? Are you putting that payment on loans? Curious as to what I am going to do. I have never had loans or FA and am worried all I will qualify for is loans. I will not be considered for institutional monies as my parents are refusing to give me the financial info for my fafsa...

Yes I have a car note and will try eliminate it with income tax and loan, scholarships because I'm going to have to quit my job.

I interviewed Thursday and was accepted Thursday just like most people that interviewed wednesday, Thursday, and Friday!

What do you mean you won't be considered for institutional money because your parents won't provide their financial info? Are you still able to get Pell Grant? I thought you don't need your parents financial info to receive pell grant?

Institutional monies = anything that is given within the institue of UTMB.... if you do not provide your parental information on FAFSA, any grants/scholarships that are given away soloely by UTMB you will not be considered for. The Pell grant is a government grant and since I am over the age of 24 I will be considered as an individual by the government and will be eligible for it....I HIGHLY doubt i will get it though. My husband makes about 50k a year... which is probably WAY too much for any need based funding. It sucks because we have a house note and car payments, and all sorts of other bills and the fact that I am not working really taps us out...but the govt doesnt see it as that. They see it as 50k a year and we should be able to afford 5k a semester...

So I am planning on loans loans and more loans... I will NOT let money be ther reason I do not do this...

am just curious to know......mystar doesnt say admitted..even though am already in and i called and i accepted my admission.....is like that with everyone or do some of ya say admitted already?? just curious...i know my star takes a lil longer

Same here so you're not alone right after I accepted my Admission it went back to saying Incomplete. I guess it doesn't matter cause we should be getting new mystar info here soon! Hope this helps!

My star still shows me incomplete and not accepted. Trust me, I'm there and they have my money :) make sure you've accepted verbally, and there should be a written acceptance to return when you get your packet.
