UTMB Spring 2012

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

Institutional monies = anything that is given within the institue of UTMB.... if you do not provide your parental information on FAFSA, any grants/scholarships that are given away soloely by UTMB you will not be considered for. The Pell grant is a government grant and since I am over the age of 24 I will be considered as an individual by the government and will be eligible for it....I HIGHLY doubt i will get it though. My husband makes about 50k a year... which is probably WAY too much for any need based funding. It sucks because we have a house note and car payments, and all sorts of other bills and the fact that I am not working really taps us out...but the govt doesnt see it as that. They see it as 50k a year and we should be able to afford 5k a semester...

So I am planning on loans loans and more loans... I will NOT let money be ther reason I do not do this...

Ok, all I care about is getting Pell Grant. I'm not going to submit my parents tax information because it will say they make too much for me to receive anything need based, but it's complete BS because they have about $100 left a month after bills. I wish they would account for that kind of stuff and realize that just because you make X amount doesn't mean you can afford thousands of dollars for school.....

I literally thought you meant you can't even receive pell grant if you don't submit your parents information.

I interviewed Thursday and was accepted Thursday just like most people that interviewed wednesday, Thursday, and Friday!

You mean people that interviewed this last friday already got acceptace lettters? I interviewed on Friday too and i havent heard anything...what time did they interview?

I interviewed Thursday morning around 10 and got my reply around 4.

Also just an FYI To all those wondering where to move, when I mentioned to the lady I interviewed with that I lived near League City and she said it was a good midway point between the clinicals and class :)

I am pretty sure it came via regualr mail. She said she recieved it today and I DOUBT they would send rejection emails on a Saturday.

It is the first I heard of as well... I REALLY thought she would get in... or at least get an interview! I would assume that since a rejection letter has gone out that all spots have been spoken for at this point.

I thought it was pretty awesome that I had to wait less than 48 hours. Now if only that could have happened back in August...

Question... Is anyone going to be paying a car note while in school and not working? Are you putting that payment on loans? Curious as to what I am going to do. I have never had loans or FA and am worried all I will qualify for is loans. I will not be considered for institutional monies as my parents are refusing to give me the financial info for my fafsa...

I don't think that the people that interviewed on Friday have received any correspondence as of yet. Only those that interviewed on Thursday. And there stool could be a chance that some who interviewed on Thursday could still be accepted. I called and spoke with TS in Friday and although there was some interviews on that day I don't think there was a meeting. She made it seems as though the last meeting they had was in Thursday. So the people that interviewed on Thursday did so before the meeting and they were lucky enough to be reviewed right away and receive and immediate response. Only thing I don't know for sure is if last week was their last meeting, BUT if people interviewed on Friday that wouldn't make sense. So with that said I'm sure they'll be more meetings.

Do we have to pay a seat deposit to accept admission? I haven't looked in to it yet.

hey yall what is the PID number for the scholarship app...... fyi closes in 4 days!!! ..... is it the same as our student id #??
