Hey Guys!
I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!
I just have to say that I hope we get our acceptance letters really soon! I am EXHAUSTED! I'm doing 17 hours this semester, RN program and CHEM and History 1301, I'm doing a major fundraiser for a non-profit and I'm mom to three (one with very special needs), and a wife...I am SO ready to know if I got in or not! I never would have accepted the RN position had I known I was going to get an interview! I'm just ready to concentrate on my History and Chem classes so I can start in the Spring with UTMB! I have literally been studying for 3 weeks straight...lol No breaks!
I'll be so glad when I can slow down this semester and focus on UTMB!
Okay, just needed to vent... Thanks :-)
Signed,
Tired mom and student!
Wow with all of that on your plate..you really deserve to get in. I wish you the best!
As for the 2nd round interviews, I was the one who posted about the 12. When I emailed her 2 weeks ago, she told me that the admissions committe would meet on the 12 for the 2nd interview round. However, I'm not sure if they met or not. If not, then that's why she prolly told you about the 26. I hope that is for the 3rd round and not the 2nd because I can't wait any longer!
Yes good luck leddestiny!Just heads up, I emailed Dora and she said next meeting to decide on interviews is the 26th! So invites should go out later that week. Im assuming for interviews the following friday which would be the 7th
im not sure if thats for the 2nd or 3rd round since i know someone posted about them meeting the 12th?
Noooooo!!! That's SO long!!! LOL--I'm going to be completely depleted by then...lol!!
Has anyone emailed Tiffany? I'm going to shoot her an email, and if I get a chance I will call her this week. I just didn't want to make anybody mad by continuously calling (like I did with submitting my app...lol), so I haven't called...
Sheesh! I am so glad this is worth it!:nurse:

My parents live in league city, they are thinking about renting a room out, that could be an option for you so u do not have to pay monthly rent for an apt when u only gonna be there 5 days a week
That is something I'm willing to consider can you send me a message with a way to contact you once acceptance letters are out...

Omg that's a lot on your plate I wish you the best of luck I thought I had it with a 3 and 5 year old but I'm rethinking....
I also have a family and I live in Houston the area which is closer to Pasadena, Tx. So I will be moving down to the island, but I haven't decided if I wanna bring one of my daughters that is 5 with me. I plan on renting an apartment during the week and going home on the weekend. I really prefer not to move but I can't trust I45 it crazy! Do you guys think I'll be okay bring my 5 year old?
That's tough. I have a family as well and there's no way I could just move during the week. I have class mates that are commuting much further, most are carpooling to help with that.
If she's 5, will she not be in school? Having her transfer may be rough on her, which just adds more stress to your plate.
Child care is another thing to think about, especially if you get one of the night or weekend clinical rotations.
You'll be going opposite direction of traffic on I-45 both ways, so really, traffic shouldn't be a problem. I live off of El Dorado and leave my house at 8:12 and still make it to class on time :)
Honestly, I wouldn't move. Seems silly to pay rent when you already have a home. And I couldn't leave my kiddos during the week!!

I agree! I live in the Clear Lake/ Friendswood area. I went to UTMB for a different degree and communted to the island 5 days a week for 2 years... other than the 70 miles/ day I put on my car it wasn't bad!LOL
Here's to hoping we all hear something soon!!!:redbeathe

My daughter is in school and I have daycare for both of my kids, but I have never been away from them that's the deciding factor. Right now I don't have my own place but I will be making that decision based on my schedule if I would move to the Bay Area area or just move to the Island. I know for sure either way I will be renting because at the moment I stay with my sister where I help her with her four kids and it gets pretty hectic and i need time to focues nad concentrate. I appreciate the advice and I'm just taking it day by day.
