UTMB Spring 2012

Published

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

another day...another emailess day...

Waaaaa:crying2::crying2::crying2::crying2::crying2:!!! I called this afternoon to see if I would get any different info than the committee meeting on the 26th to discuss the first round. But no, nothing different. She said they would meet on the 26th and then letters would go out after that....

Maybe we'll get some surprise interview and acceptance news tomorrow! Hang in there y'all--our time is coming!!

:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

:throcomp:

Lol KRR2009. I must say that I agree with you

so to sum up all the information we "think" may happen. the committee meeting will be held on the 26th and after that they should let the first round of interviews know if they are accepted? and also inform the next group of interviews?

oh my, this waiting is killing me!! ahhh.... checking my email everyday. :/ yes i’m on board lets all throw the computers and cell phones. i can’t believe they waited until the end of the month to send of the next batch of interviews?? i thought it was suppose to be every friday in september. i was a part of the first batch of interviews, and the person that interviewed me informed that we show know something no later than october. for the next batch of applicants that is even a longer wait to know. i wonder what they discuss about during the committee. how do they achieve their final decision? ahhh!

waiting game.... whomp whomp whomp!

i've noticed on the ATI website for testing location that each day is dedicated to a specific University. What if you want to apply to multiple University? Does that mean you have to re-take the test seperately for each university you're applying for? i'm bit confused, can you guys help me?

Just got a reply....don't know how accurate it is but I have just been told interviews are to continue some time in October and that the original semptermber schedule plan has been changed...

UGH!

As far as I know it should be interchangable between schools...With that said...each university may require different sections of the TEAS that are not offered in the UTMB testing site. Make sure and call the enrollment services for each specified college to see what their requirements are. THey are all different and may not accept a test score from another schools testing site. Makes no sense whatsoever. It is just a low for them to make more money IMO...Kind of like jacking the prices of books at the on campus book stores...

Noooo!!!! That leaves me feeling worried because if they've switched those tines, will they switch when they're going to review the first batch?

Sheesh!!

I'm at the point now where I want to drop the ADN so I can focus on CHEM and History. I'm really stressing about the CHEM because I'm getting further and further behind. If my intention is to eventually be in a BSN program at some point, then is it worth dropping at this level and taking the blow. If I drop at this community college, then it will deduct 2 points from my overall score. It takes 16 to get in, I have 17 so that would drop me to 15, which would most likely keep me out (unless the pool is smaller next semester).

What I'm reasoning is that if I'm going to be in a BSN program, the question is is where. If I don't get in this spring, then I have some classes that I can work on in the spring and reapply to utmb and apply to others.

Any thoughts? I don't wanna stay in this program just because. But I also don't want to be foolish in letting go of this program if it's likely I won't get into the program I want.

Im not sure if I understand what you are saying....Are you currently in an ADN program and taking Chem and History also? If thats the case I wouldnt drop the ADN program in case you dont get into UTMB...or another choice for BSN program. If you drop, then dont get into a BSN program somewhere your screwed! I learned in poker...NEVER leaves yourself without any outs...

I am currently in an ADN program (was my back up plan) and I sure am glad I started it :) I do however already have all my other BSN pre-reqs finished so I am not having to deal with nursing classes and other classes...I see how it would be extremely hard. Chemistry was not easy :/

Even if I get into UTMB, I don't plan on dropping the nursing courses I am currently in so that I will have a full semester of nursing experience already under my belt when January rolls around and hopefully will give me a jump start into UTMB's classes and clinicals.

Yes, I'm currently in an ADN program and taking extra classes, with a ton of personal responsibilities. I'm kinda at a breaking point of not knowing if I should stay in this program and risk failing either CHEM or history or get out and risk not being in a program at all.

And that's what I had hoped to do. Stay in until I started utmb, but my grades are not good. I'm failing so far in nursing and CHEM. Although I know I could bring them both up, I'm just not sure if I can sustain with passing all the way until the end.

Me personally I wouldnt drop a program until I knew for sure I had a guaranteed spot at another program. If push came to shove ADN to BSN is only 1 year. You have already invested so much in that program to quit not knowing what's to come.

Yeah, I've thought about that too. If I start in the spring then I'll graduate with a BSN at the same time that I wouldn't with an ADN. If I start BSN in the fall, then I would graduate in May 2014, which would be the same time as if I did RN-BSN. So the question is: which way do I want to do it.
