Hey Guys!
I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!
@ Punky
That's IF I get an interview, haha. ;( We shall see. I am really hoping to at least get an interview... UTMB is my #1 choice for sure. I am worried about what to wear if I do receive an interview. Once I get enough posts, I'd like to PM you a question punky, if you don't mind! :) thanks for all the helpful info.

absolutely.
@ PunkyThanks for all of your advice!! I just hope they let us know if we make the cut (after the interview) in a timely manner! I can see myself going crazy...
I think it's appropriate to ask your interviewer (at the end, if they ask if you have any questions!!) when they think you may hear something about your acceptance.
I really hope the next batch of invites goes out Tuesday.....I wonder if there is a way to find out if my app was one in the first group of apps that was not asked to interview. If I don't have a shot I want to just get it over with...like ripping off a band aid...
I called the Registrars office on Thursday, and they were able to tell me that my application was complete, and that it would be sent with the next batch of applications sent to the SON. So just call and ask! :) The only thing I'm worrying about is that even though they told me it was complete, my MyStar says that its not. Hopefully this doesn't affect them sending it with the "next batch" whenever that might be!
Also, does anyone know how they let you know if you DIDN'T get accepted. For instance if they review your app and decide its not one they want to grant and interview to. Do they email you right away? Or wait until the very end to let people know of denials?
Just got off the phone with the SON...they said my app hasnt been looked at yet and that it should be being viewed as we speak or very soon. I was also informed that Interviews are going to be held every friday in September...so HOPEFULLY the 2nd batch of invites gets out today or tomorrow for this friday!

You mean next Friday? This Friday's interviews already went out on like August 31st! Hopefully they are giving people about that much notice ~10 days or so.

I was also told the same thing. I hope we all hear something soon. Btw: When did you apply?

You can call or email, but we all pretty much got canned responses - denial letters were sent out really late.
I think that's pretty much how it was - I don't know of many that were interviewed but not accepted. Obviously, that can't always be the case just from the interviewed vs open slots, but there are probably a couple hundred not on AN, ya know??
And thanks - humor will be the only thing that gets you by. I've been eating, breathing, living NS for the past 3 years between applying/waiting for LVN, completing LVN, applying and waiting for UTMB, and this will not cont for 2 more years :)
Minimum score is 56%, so if that is passing, you'd be considered a high B - it's not a killer score (and by killer, I mean gonna keep you out of the program!)
absolute truth.
Sounds like a great essay. Mine was about the same - had an entire semester of F's to explain (and they were core science classes!!) I had a *very* good explanation and that's why I believe my essay got me in for an interview. If UTMB had been all about grades, I'd have likely not gotten a second look.
Just a hint, may want to look over your essay again before you go into for your interview :) I had a few questions and it had been MONTHS since I'd written it. Glad I gave it a glance before I went!
I'd arrive 30 minutes early to the campus. Give you self plenty of time to park and get to the SON office. Then go to the bathroom, drink some water and take long, deep breaths. The LAST thing you want is to be running late so you start off worked up and flustered!!
