UTMB Spring 2012

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

@lavender sorry to hear that! There's a reason you did not get into that school and there will probably be better things that await you. You don't know why you didn't get in, but you'll never know what would've occurred if you were accepted. Just look at this at another opportunity to get what's better out there. Do you have another choice for schools?

I would call the assistant dean and see if you can set up a meeting asap to find out why you were not accepted. What were your stats? She can suggest what to do differently or maybe even fix the problem!

Been trying to reach her for the last 3 weeks. Every since my problem was supposedly "fixed" and my application was set to finally be reviewed. Her assistant won't let me through to her and when I call she's always in meetings or out of the office. I've also emailed her 3 times within no response and now she's on vacation until the 15th. And this was when I was just trying to get an update on my status. She told me to call her in a week if I hadn't heard anything. Now that I've been rejected officially I'll probably never have a chance to speak with her. Or maybe that's why she never responded bcuz she already knew I had been rejected?!?

My Stats: GPA 3.54 TEAS 81.7 I've also been an LVN for 3yrs and I had Chem and Patho in progress this semester. Everything else was done. I had some issues early on in college and my grades weren't the best, but I cleaned up my transcripts and every since I went back to school and got serious I've only earned A's and B's while carrying 18-21 units a semester. And from what I've heard my personal statement was very good. I just told my story and my goals the best I could. I guess I'm not that we'll rounded after all?!?

Hurts because after visiting some of the other schools in the area (no names) I really felt like UTMB was the place for me. And you can't beat 15months!!!

Well you sound like a very qualified applicant to me! Have you tried conacting DT? Why don't you just go up to the school? Sometimes you have to fight for what you want!

I haven't talked to DT or TS yet. I'll try to call DT in the AM, that's usually when she answers. I thought I was pretty qualified too or at least enough to get an interview in order to explain the circumstances regarding my class history. And if I thought hopping on a plane and walking in to talk with someone would help of certainly do it without question. I live in CA. I'll post what I'm told when I call, but I'm thinking the most accurate info would come from TC and she's off until the 15th

Well I'm sorry! Keep pursuing your dream and don't give up on utmb. Keep us updated when you find something out.

You're welcome, Well If you visited UTH they have a year round program also. If you're in love with UTMB don't give up! Just try again for the next semester. Good luck!

Hi all,

for those who were posting that they have not heard yet, I am one of those too. Not to worry, just stay busy and try not to think about it. My interviewer said I would not hear anything for about 2 weeks. I called last thursday and they said all the letters would be sent out the next day, friday. So far still no letter :( So I find another closet to go clean out or organize/ lol Hang in there.

Same here! i called TS on thursday and she said letters would be going out friday but i still havent heard anything. Maybe that's a good thing, because a few people gave their spot up for other schools.

Hmm I had an interview with TC on Friday 11/4 and she told me to expect to hear something in 10 days from them...seems like we're all being told different things. I hate this wait!!

Lavender- did you ever get an interview? I wouldn't give up. I would call and demand to know why you weren't accepted. At least if you know that then you know what to work on so that you can be a better applicant next time. I agree with everyone else, NEVER give up on something if that is truly your dream. If you do some research on here, some of the people who were accepted for Spring 12 have applied more than once, and they finally got in. Even if you have to apply 2-3 times. And expand your search, there are so many other programs out there that I'm sure would give you a chance. Point is- NEVER GIVE UP. I knw you'll find a school that will be great for you!

No I never got an interview! I kept holding out that I would, but it never happened for me. When TC comes back form vacation I do plan to still continue to try to contact her to see if there is ANY info that I can get. Just getting an answer to relieve the "what if/why" is something that i would really appreciate. Wish me luck.
