UTMB Spring 2010

Published

Hey guys Im making this thread so all of the applicants for UTMB Spring 2010 can follow each other through the process and help each other out! The application deadline is coming up soon! Goodluck to all!:nuke: I know they are only exepting 60 for the spring.

Thanks Mau00, for calling lol!!! another month, I dont know if my nerves can take it.

I know! Me neither. I've been checking my quikchek account and email repeatedly hoping we would find something this week, but I guess we have to wait even longer.

UTMB seems to move at a slower pace than they state. I would just try and relax and something will happen soon. If you look at the appliocants from the Fall 09 post...their dates got pushed back multiple times...I mean months and months. Sucks but nothing we can do about it

Another month?!?! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Noooooooooooo! The suspense is killing me here!

Good luck to me & everyone else who applied!!!

toasterbell, i thought we lost you!!! glad you see you back in the room.

hi nursing assist, welocome!! and good luck to you also.

jazzynurse2b good luck on the new gig. what grade level will you teach?

i am taking pathophysiology with mr.***** at san jacinto college. it seems ok so far what do you think mau00?

Hey everyone -

I am brand new to this website and learning SO much!

I actually just received an email from UTMB ths week stating that my application could not be processed any further because I had re-taken Statistics more than once! I took and passed (D) during undergrad, withdrew second time (shows as an F on transcript-ugh) and re-took again - made an A.

Was told I would have to petition the Dean to have this allowed and proceed on with application - has anyone heard of this? Is it a total deal breaker and I should just give up or is it worth fighting for? Also, has anyone heard of this for other UT BSN programs? I can't find this policy posted any of the websites, so a little frustrating and I am scared it could totally keep me out of BSN programs all together!

Bkgrnd for reference - I graduated with a BS in Human Biology 10 years ago, all A's/B's in Sciences, A's in all other prereqs, overall GPA around 3.1 - most recent grades MUCH improved over old original transcript....

Any advice would be REALLY appreciated!!

:wlcmhnds:txjeepgirl i'm glad you found us!

i didn't know the ut-bsn programs had a policy regarding retaking classes. they never mentioned that during the information sessions. i'm sorry this happened to you and a lot of people are going to be disqualified because of this rule. also, i have never read on any other ut-bsn threads that people were disqualified for retaking courses.

i don't know how to advise you, but if it were me..i would appeal..who knows what the real deal is..maybe they are just testing you to see if you are serious about nursing, maybe they won't have enough qualified applicants (under the new rules) and they may go to the appeal stack to fill spaces! did they tell you how to appeal? also, have you noticed if your application status changed on econnects?

i read on the prairie view son website that you can't take a class more than once for a better grade and twu just started a new policy regarding retaking classes, apparently you can retake classes, but it's counted against you somehow. i'm not sure the particulars on that one. so there are schools out there that have similar rules, but this seems to be a new one for utmb.

when did you apply to utmb? i applied july 4th and was hoping to hear from them by september 10th regarding an interview, but now that i see they are reviewing applications i'm not so sure i want to hear from them too soon.

we have all been checking our emails like we have "ocd" :spmstmp:

hello everyone,

i decided to join you guys in the fun of waiting. i applied july 18th and i am also checking my e-mails like crazy. i am not new to this site i have been reading the forums since 2008.

i have not applied to any other school and utmb is my first choice. they won me over when i attended an information session last year. they seemed to be concerned about student’s success and have a good reputation for it. my mother also attended and received her bsn there. i have been working towards my dream of becoming a nurse for 9 years. i feel that this is where i need to be at this point in my life.

i have taken all of the required courses and i am currently taking patho. i have checked my e-connect and they have received all my information. i am just waiting to see if they will consider me for an interview.

i hope that we all get accepted and succeed in our journey at utmb! :)

When I went to the UT houston info session, they said they took the highest grade. So they made a point of telling us that even if you had taken something twice they took the higher grade. I took chem twice and they took the higher grade so my science GPA with them is a 4.0 hope that helps. It seems like the schools change the rules every two seconds.

Hi everyone! I am new to the list of those waiting on UTMB to LET US IN. I am excited to have found somewhere that I can watch and connect with people going through the same agonizing wait as me! I seem to have a good idea on what the average GPA seems to be, but I was wondering what everyones background was in. Do people have experience in the healthcare area? What about degrees? I am applying to the accelerated program, and have a degree in Health and 2 years of experience doing clinical research.
