I had a question about books. Would you recommend buying the books. I have found many on a website that allows you to rent the books. Do you find yourself referencing them a lot after your classes?

I heard renting is waaayyyyy cheaper but I would have to look into it once we knew what books we actually need. I just got off the phone with a girl I met at the interview who has a high GPA and a degree from A&M....she hasnt heard anything....hopefully she just got lost in the shuffle cuz she was really cool.

Ms. Sealy- I dont have AT&T so I am scared to the get an iPhone since I would prob have to buy one on eBay or something. I have a Palm Centro right now but its a piece of you know what. My hubby is buying me a new phone for x-mas so I may look into the Palm Pre or Palm Pixi. Or heck maybe I will get a blackberry. How do you know if the phone is compatable?

I REALLY hope they arent going to make us wear white shoes...they get all scuffed and bloody and goopy and gross....LOL....

good luck to those still waiting a response from UTMB. We all know how stressful this must be. i was dying to find out if i got accepted or not, and it was a huge sigh of relief when i was accept. you guys will be in my prayers. i know you can do it! I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!!!

emag, i found on the utmb website that the iphone was compatible..the list is below. i didn't have att either until i got the iphone. it's been great so far and i just learned i get an additional 15% discount thru my job! (i like to save money). you have a lot of choices for pda's..you don't have to get the iphone.

we are praying for you kgoodson, but i'm sure our prayers have already been answered since they called you today!

cpr is around post 83, 84, 111

ms_sealy - I got a letter in the mail on Thursday from UTMB and they rejected me. I am making plans to apply again and take nurse entrance exams. However, I am also planning to find other avenues into the field. Maybe get my bachelors in Psychology and do fast track or apply to medical schools. Who knows where I will end up from here.

Jade, I'm sorry to hear that :-(

The first time I applied to UTMB (a year and a half ago, right before the hurricane) I got rejected. It sucked, so I understand your frustration. You have to just remember what it is that you want to do, and keep at it, don't give up.

Also you can look into ADN programs in the area (San Jac, COM, Galveston College, etc...) They are all good programs and are a lot cheaper, and even though you come out with an associates instead of a bachelor's, the pay isn't much of a difference and most of the people I talked to with ADNs didn't feel that they were any less prepared than if they had a BSN. Honestly, if I didn't get into UTMB I was planning on going to San Jac. Who knows, that may still be an option if I can't get the funds for UTMB. Also, if you get your ADN and get on at a good hospital, most of them will pay for you to continue on in school and get your BSN.

My point is, don't give up hope, keep your options open. I got a lot of info from all the local ADN programs, if you need advice or clarity on the different programs shoot me an email and I'll help however I can.
