I got a phone call today to schedule my interview time with Dr.C. I will be interviewing AGAIN tomorrow morning at 10 am!!! I'm more nervous than the first one...I didn't even know that was possible! If anyone has any tips...I've never really done interviews before so I'm thinking I may need to say or do something differently this time around to assure my spot in the program. ANY advice will be helpful lol

hi katie lou,

first of all just relax. if you had some minor indiscretions as a teen, that is probably what they want to talk about. they probably just want to make sure you are the responsible student that you are. we will all represent utmb son, so they just want to make sure you will be a good example.

my tips would be to go over the questions they asked you in interview 1. the dean will probably ask again. why should we (utmb son) pick you as a nursing student? what will make you a good nursing student? how will you handle the coursework? also, if you made a mistake as a teen, what have you learned from that and how did it shape you into the person you are, now. they want to see that not only are you not that person anymore, you learned from your mistakes.

lastly, practice-practice-practice. practicing outloud makes all the difference in the world. if you have someone to practice with, it makes it better because they may think of follow-up questions to ask. this makes it less nerve racking for you and will make you more confident and relaxed in the interview.

Hey Katie!

I typed up my responses to the questions that someone previously posted (there were 15 or 16 of them). It took a couple of hours, but it really helped me prepare by allowing me to practice what I wanted to say and how I wanted to say it. It may not work for you, but its a suggestion.

Thank you so much for all of your support and I'm going to do all of that! Typing up the questions, rehearsing them out loud...everything!!!!! I am determined to get this and all of you being there for me is making this a little more bearable! I will let ya'll know as soon as I get back what they say...hopefully I'll have a definite answer by the time I leave! I really hope to be joining all of you guys in the Spring :)

Hey guys...I just called UTMB and declined their offer. I'm going to go to TWU. The drive is just something I could not do when I have the option of not doing the drive. I hope me declining helps one of ya'll get in who had second interviews or were waitlisted!!!
