Wow I'm just a topic starter but since no one else has done it i'll start a thread that "might" be useful for others.
Well has anyone else applied for the aCC2 program at UTMB for the spring of 09? I haven't heard back from them yet and curious to know if anyone else has.
40 slots out of 174 isn't that bad. At UT Houston, it's 40 slots out of ~700 applicants. Anyway, the UTMB school of nursing website is back up, and it says that Master of Nursing programs for Spring 2009 are being rolled over to Summer 2009. I hope they don't do that for bacc2. I am tired of waiting.
Well, on the website the school of nursing is continuing classes Oct 1, and Med students don't come back until Oct 20. Weird in my book....
according to the list of open buildings on the utmb website, the nursing school building is open so maybe that's why classes already started. however, the medical school is not on the list. maybe those students don't go back b/c their building is too damaged.
and i agree with raconteur. i don't think that 174 apps for 40 spots is that bad COMPARED to what other schools get.
as a current BSN student at UTMB I thought I'd fill in the lacking info here, SON classes did resume Oct 1st, but not at the SON. we are being sent around to various places in Galveston county, other CC's and halls wherever we will fit. They don't know when the building will be back up to par for us to return. --only faculty are allowed to return to the building right now to assess damages and figure out how to recover. Medical students were all moved to Austin and surrounding areas to continue their residencies, not sure if they will be returing to the school this semester.
If they truly only received 174 applicants that is very good odds, we had over 750 apply for the fall '08 with 40 spots available,
Good luck to all!

Galveston is pretty messed up.. this coming from a former local that still has parents that live there. Some parts of galveston still have no power and even in the paper it said they would probably take 2-4 weeks to actually have "clean" water.
GL to anyone else that effected by IKE. I feel as if im being selfish wanting to know more about the school when everyone on the island is just trying to fix/repair.. sigh
