UTMB - Galveston Spring 09

Published

Wow I'm just a topic starter but since no one else has done it i'll start a thread that "might" be useful for others.

Well has anyone else applied for the aCC2 program at UTMB for the spring of 09? I haven't heard back from them yet and curious to know if anyone else has.

rfs I live by the Galleria too. From what I understood at the Open House, everything is online, and you go once a week (they said on Tuesdays) to take exams and do your clinical rotation.

Just had my interview today! It wasn't bad I had 2 ladies interview me I think one of them was the Nursing Counselor (I might be mistaken).

I didn't keep track of time so I don't know how long it lasted I just know I finished before they guy ahead of me haha (bad sign? eh). They basically have a set amount of questions just like all the other schools and then end by asking you if you have questions for them.

They will also inform you that you need to do a criminal background check if you haven't done so already. It should be on their website!

GL to all those that still have interviews!

Is the hospital back to normal? I worked there in the SICU in the 80's (2A & 2B) and I can't imagine what it must have been like. Hope everything is going well, I learned so much there that I still use every day.

Didn't got to the hospital because the interview were held in Sante Fe in a little church. The hospital got flood damage so that's why they relocated interviews.

But, I did head up to Galveston anyway to visit my friend in medical school there. All of the med students seemed happy they were all going to the UTMB library to study for their upcoming test WED.

The only bad thing is that resturants and stores are not all open. The big ones are but thats about it. Jeez finding a place to eat (The Original) was crazy b/c anything close to UTMB had a huge wait.

Im hearing they are laying off about 3000 people because of IKE but things are starting to get better. The town is still sorta wrecked but slowly and surely it'll be rebuilt and ok.

Does anyone know "how" we'll find out if we're accepted? Phone, email, or letter? Now that interviews are over, I'm counting down the days...gotta be done deciding soon. Some people have to move here, make plans, etc. (I live in Galveston).

Okay who got accepted here. The website said 60 applicants were notified of acceptance last week for spring accelerated. If you were not notified sorry they only send out acceptance letters. I am holding my breath for summer or fall 2009 class. Congrats if you got in and good luck to all.

Well, I can tell you that the SON webpage didn't have that information on there yesterday (Tuesday) and it also just says "accepted", not necessarily notified. I haven't heard anything yet either, but I find it hard to believe that no one on this board got in. Everyone was so eager to post about simply getting an interview that this leads me to believe the SON hasn't notified anyone yet. Maybe today's the day. Don't give up just yet.

By the way, my application status still says pending.

I can't even access my page lol b/c I got locked out forgot my password >.

Well I decided to go another route so you girls/guys have one less competition yay! GL to all that are waiting!

Where does it say this about the acceptances on the website? I cant find it.

It's on the main page, http://www.son.utmb.edu/

I still have to hold on to the hope that they jumped the gun on updating the website, since I haven't heard anything yet. Good luck!

Just an FYI, I called and spoke to Joanne. She honestly had no idea why the website was launched "that" early, but she said that email notices will be sent Friday or Monday, with a packet following.
