Wow I'm just a topic starter but since no one else has done it i'll start a thread that "might" be useful for others.
Well has anyone else applied for the aCC2 program at UTMB for the spring of 09? I haven't heard back from them yet and curious to know if anyone else has.
I got mine, too! I'm so excited and relieved. I was really intimated by the workload at first, but I keep thinking " 1 year - that's it and I'm done." I figure it will be somewhat like taking a summer class where you are using every spare moment to study, or like working part time (clinicals) while taking classes.
I think it is mostly online. It would be good for someone who wants to stay in Houston for most of the time but bad is someone wants in class instruction.
Living situation is bad there right not as well. I have a friend that works at UTMB that is staying with me at my apartment right now. I live in the Galleria area and he drives to work every day. This would be a huge problem if we are taking such a large load. The time could be spend studying instead of driving and traffic.
If anyone who is already in this program is reading, please give us your advice! Is this program doable? Thanks!
I think a lot of it is online, too, but can't find exactly what classes are online and what aren't.
As for the living situation here on the Island, it isn't great, but will get better. My apartment complex is one of the least damaged, and we've had many A&M students relocate to College Station, as well as students from other UTMB schools, so we have vacancies. It seems to be hard to find a place, at least for now, especially because of the length of time it takes for FEMA to set up temporary housing for homeowners.
On another note, if we have two 8-hour days of interviews, at half-hour intervals, theoretically, they can only interview a max of 32 people (and that's without a lunch hour). Has anyone heard if they are cutting the class size?
