UTMB - Galveston Spring 09

U.S.A. Texas

Wow I'm just a topic starter but since no one else has done it i'll start a thread that "might" be useful for others.

Well has anyone else applied for the aCC2 program at UTMB for the spring of 09? I haven't heard back from them yet and curious to know if anyone else has.

Deadline for the spring admissions is Oct 15th. They extended the deadline this year so you can still apply

Which program has that OCT 15 deadline???

I also applied to the BACC2 at UTMB. I have not heard anything either. I am so anxious that I can barley concentrate on my current classes. It is killing me.

I applied to UTHSSA also and received an interview. I cant imagine why UTMB is taking so long.

I did not even know that UTMB interviewed students for the BACC2 program. I can't seem to find this on the website either. Where did yall read it?

Here's the link to the BACC2 at UTMB...

The Oct deadline is for the regualr BSN program

Since Galveston is underwater, what do you guys think will happen to our admissions now? They originally said interview letters would be mailed by the first week of October but officials say you can't even get back to Galveston for 4 weeks. Once they do get back, they still have to go through the applications, mail out interview letters, hold interviews, and make the final decision. Can they do all that by December? Are our admission applications underwater?

Applications are stored electronically on computer systems that are backed up. UTMB is hoping to have power restored in the next week or two so we can begin meeting the needs of our community, patients, and students. Please bear with us during these difficult times.

One thing I can bet on - UTMB will prevail and come back stronger than ever!

So much waiting... Has anyone heard anything new?

I got to be honest here people. I am a local and I applied to generic program summer 09. The Island is a mess. I cant go home for between 2-4 more weeks. If you look at UTMB website you will see that most current students are being moved to facilities on Mainland and also online classes to finish their programs. I do not see them starting any new programs for awhile but that is just my opinion. If I were you I wouldnt put to much hope in this school for atleast 12 months. I am going to apply elsewhere and hope that I have covered my bases. Also housing is going to be at a premiun all around the coast so unless you commute from Houston expect to pay big bucks to live in a closet. UTMB and the Island will recover but it is going to take years not months. Sorry to sound negative but I am a local and I know the reality that isnt being published yet. It is going to be a long road to recovery.:sniff:

I was going to apply to this program when the storm hit. Does anyone know if I should just wait till next semester before I waste $50 and they not even recieve anything??

I'd still like to at least hear something about the program. At least an announcement or some kind of indication that there won't be a Spring '09 program. This is a huge disappointment (not to be inconsiderate or anything).

I got this off of the UTMB.edu website:

Potential School of Allied Health Students

Posted: 8:50 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, mc

Interviews for September admissions to the SAHS have been postponed through the remainder of the month and we hope to host interviews for potential students some time in October.

I know we are potential SON students and NOT potential allied health students, but if they are hoping to hold interviews for them in October, maybe they are also hoping to have interviews for the nursing school in October?
