  1. I'm currently in my first semester for WHNP but thinking I should either add FNP or ANP to be more marketable. My background is in NICU so learning adults again will be a learning curve. After reading these posts I'm thinking a post masters in FNP would be the best way to go
  2. The study guide for the book she took quite a few questions plus some of them she just asked in a different way so please invest time into looking at it.
  3. Just took our first patho test and the best way to prepare is to READ HER NOTES and then READ THEM AGAIN. Know them word for word!!!!! Also look at the questions from the study guide she takes a few from those. Don't worry about reading the book unless you need more clarity on her notes. Basically just study her notes and you should do fine
  4. I was wondering the same thing for theory. Also did anyone find the pocket guide for patho helpful. Saw good reviews on amazon but didn't know if it applied to our program. Also what was the best approach for studying patho?
  5. I'm pretty sure all the clinicals will be somewhere in the DFW area. Def keep searching for programs. Hope you find one that fits for you
  6. Thanks!! I know some of the classes are online but I'm not sure if all are. Orientation is next week so I will find out more info.
  7. I'm start TWU in the spring. Def don't give up I'm your dream. There area few online WHNP programs
  8. Like you I'm a NICU nurse in Texas and love women's health. After much thought I decided to go ahead and apply to a WHNP program. I just have no interest past neonates for kids and don't care about general problems for adults. I've noticed there are jobs out there but not advertised openly like fnp. If I can't truly find a job I will go back for a post masters certificate in fnp
  9. I've only worked NICU so this will be a big adjustment for me to have patients that talk but I love womens health. Depending on what you want to spend for rent I would suggest the Addison, Lewisville, Carrollton area, and certain places off Hwy 75. They are decent safe areas and close to a lot of things.
  10. Nat03 glad to hear you are joining the WHNP track.I know its not a popular one but it can be very rewarding one. I'm from the Dallas area but got my nursing degree from the TWU Houston campus. What about yourself?
  11. I will be on the look out for the letter in the mail. Thanks so much for the info. I got in the WHNP track. Are you FNP?
  12. I too got a very simple acceptance letter into a NP program. I called my advisor that was listed on the letter but havent heard anything back. I know registration for classes should be near the end of this month or in Nov. I have a few friends already in the fall classes and will ask them whats next.
  13. I did something similar fuzzy. I had someone stand behind my computer with some notes so I could remember what I wanted to say in case I blanked out
  14. I'm applying for the whnp/cnm program and had a hard time too with the video. It took me a hour to make a decent 3-4 min video. I too would just rather have a interview. I went on YouTube and found some videos of past applicants who made their's and it helped me a lot
  15. I just applied for the Sept program myself. Plan on attending only part time so I can work part time or PRN. I know they say it takes 2-3 weeks but I've read on other threads people found out in a matter of days. Just wondering how true this is. I got my letter of recommendation from a FNP who has been a mentor for me since I wanted to go to nursing school. Making the video was so nerve racking!!! I had to redo that thing almost 10 times to have a decent 4 min video. I'm going to be crushed if I dont get in
