Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!
I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....
A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?
How excited sayruhh!!!!! Has anyone else been notified of an interview? I had a dream last night that I checked mystar and it said I was accepted and I had an interview...Let's hope it becomes more than a dream!!!!!!!!
You're most welcome!! I just received the e-mail last night around 5 pm so y'all keep your eyes peeled for your e-mail letters or they may even come by mail! Good luck to you all. I'm starting to feel a little scared because no one else has posted any interview letters on here yet. I'm starting to wonder if mine was sent by mistake...
Hey this goes out to everyone who wants to be a nurse:
It's scary and can make you feel crazy waiting and waiting to see...trying not to get your hopes up.
But let me tell you something~ if your dream is to become a nurse: DON'T LET ANYTHING OR ANYONE STOP YOU!! especially yourself because of discouragement or fear of continual rejection. Any successful person knows that in order to succeed you have to try and try until you get it. We can all do it! Whether it be with UTMB Fall 2011 or 2 years from now! Don't give up or get discouraged. I know that everything happens for a reason and God has a plan for each of us. :) He wants us to be happy and if we work hard we will receive our greatest (and righteous) desires. I see that in my life all the time, just thought I would throw this out there to anyone feeling discouraged or scared. You are loved and supported!! :)
I received my interview letter this morning at 11. I'm so excited! Does anyone know how many people they will be interviewing and how many they will be accepting? I'm really hoping I have a chance, now that I have made it this far. Congratulations to all who have received interview emails and good luck to those still awaiting to hear! Mine is the 25th at 9am.
Congrats to those who already have invites... I haven't checked this thread in a few days. I hadn't checked my email this week either as I've been working... Sadly, nothing. Fighting back tears right now, even though I *KNOW* that not having an email right now means *nothing*... but still.... I want this so *&^% bad.

I was at the open house this morning at UTMB. They are excepting 110 for the Fall, 80 or 90 for BACC2 in January. They had 1,200 applications for the traditional, rn-bsn and msn. They are initially interviewing 77 people. They only had 88 applicants that had higher than a 70 on the teas and over a 3.0 gpa (but kicked out 11 applications that were missing information). They will do 2nd round interviews in a few weeks. THIS IS COMING DIRECTLY FROM THE ASSISTANT DEAN. I was there for a 3 hour orientation about the school. They will early accept BACC2 if you have a 3.5 gpa and over 70 on teas (and a degree).
