Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!
I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....
A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?
My teas stayed on my to do list for a long time also. I called ATI since I took it on a UTMB day at the testing center. They stated UTMB just had to pull it off the system, nothing to be sent. Call ATI.

i'm ready to loose my cool with someone over this. i'm on the phone with ati and they are finding no record of me. i'm about to scream at the lady helping me.... she's swears that i didn't take the test and that i must have paid and taken it through my school. i have my receipt and test results printed right infront of my face.
and this is what utmb just told me:
hi sarah,
the to do list will let you know what we still need. the green button is inaccurate because we do not have your teas score (as shown in the to do list). we can only forward completed applications to the son for review. did you take the teas via ati testing? if so, you may want to inquire with them and see if they sent the scores to us? if they were sent prior to the deadline, then your application would still be able to send to review. if not, the application would be ineligible as the required documents were not received before the february 15, 2011 deadline.

eta: ati found me, but said that i did't pay for results to be sent. so, no less frustrated than i was before.
Punkydoodles/Sarah: so sorry you've had to go through all that, it sounds really frustrating! When I signed up with ATI, they made me designate a school to send a score report to. You get one sent for free, and can then select additional schools if needed, and pay for each of those. So if UTMB is the only school you took TEAS for, it should have gotten sent over there without any additional payment needed...
No interview emails/letters here yet, btw. I have the same question as katejane---to all of you who have interviews, were you notified by email or regular mail?
Congratulations to everyone who has received a interview letter, that's great... For others just stay on top of it, last semester they had lost my application and was not found and processed til after they had picked who they wanted, this semester is the same thing repeated, it is now March 14, 2011 and they are just now finding my app and suposedly processing it... Very frustrating process and you never know when they have it until the deadline is over because no one tells you anything... Good Luck !!

That was the point I kept *trying* to get across to the lady at ATI. It took over 2 hours of back-and-forth today, but UTMB finally has my scores and my application has gone for review. I was being cc'd on all the messages back and forth with-in admissions - so I have proof that they received the scores and told me that my app was up for review. I was just a bit surprised that I didn't get an interview notice, after Tiki gave the parameters - so I decided to do some digging... now I know why. IDK - maybe it's a sign. *sigh*
1515 - I'm sorry you had the same issue. Their system is frustrating. I told them that by phone and email. They acknowledged the lack of organization and apologized. Didn't help the fact that they are just looking at my application almost one month after the deadline.
I feel your pain... They are just now (hopefully) processing my application after exactly a month from the time it was sent it in... this happened to me last semester also and it was not received til it was too late, after I did everything I was suppose to do... Not sure how to correct this problem but it is more than frustrating...
Hey what is everyone's stats (gpa, teas score, pre-reqs left) that is getting interview letters?

Sorry it took me awhile to respond to your question. I received an e-mail from UTMB for the interview. My gpa wasn't great. 3.1 and the teas score was a 74. I have no pre-reqs left. But I had a lot to explain in my essay, so I'm guessing that's what did it for me.

That gives me hope... and at the same time makes me even more angry about the mix up with my TEAS scores.
I just want to let you know what a friend of mine who is in the nursing program right now at UTMB wrote to me via facebook message... FYI, I got the interview for MARCH 25 @ 1 PM... My friend basically said that lots of people got picked/ accepted into the program because of their perfect GPA/ TEAS scores and were able to bypass the interview. The people that they have picked for interviews, they are kind of indecisive about and the interview will determine whether or not they will be in or not. Now, as far as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cut of all interviews, I have no idea about! But this is what I wanted to add. And I read a post, (not sure who it was) about someone fighting back tears because there was no e-mail just yet. Girl, I recieved my rejection letter from UTHSC fall 2011 and cried for a good hour and my husband had to take me out to the museum and let me know that I WILL get in if I keep my head up. Then, I got this invite to the interview!! As someone else posted, never ever ever EVER give up on your dreams to become a nurse if this is your calling. Take more classes at a community college, re-take tests if you didn't do so well on them the 1st time. I only got a 78 on my TEAS. If you are not admitted to this semester, then take the time to perfect everything and better yourself! Remember that UTMB loves well rounded students. Go volunteer somewhere! Be active. Be a volunteer at a hospital. DON'T GIVE UP!! )

Overall GPA: 3.68
Science GPA: 3.33
TEAS: 78 (The biology/chem part killed me! BC i had not taken these classes yet)
