UTHSCSA - UT Health Science Center San Antonio - Spring 09

Published

Sorry I didn't want this post to get mixed up with the other thread haha it's so long.

Anyways wondering if anyone else applied for the Spring 09. Im also wondering if its worth buying the study guide for the TEAS that they are selling and what kind of questions they ask you in the interview.

I'm so nervous because mine is coming up!

-Thanks Duc

Oh crap! I still need to take it also. I live in Houston, let me know where you find one! Thanks!

On registration, the school said that they still need to send out a packet which outlines what classes we need to take. (so I'm pretty sure they don't register us for classes)

Also what we need to have turned in, in order to be able to register. (please correct me if i'm wrong)

1. The immunization record is required before you can even register.

2. The insurance if you don't provide proof of your own coverage you will be enrolled into the schools own insurance plan.

Spring is about $451, Summer $199, Fall $469 = $1119 for 08 year.

3. The CPR card isn't needed until orientation.

They are still putting together the registration packet that has a checklist of what we need before we register as I was told on the phone at about 4pm.

On another note, anyone need a Guy roomie? Lancer perhaps? Hmm I'd even live with a girl if you needed a roomie! Anything to lessen my incoming debt of nursing school..

I'll be heading to San Antonio Nov 20th for a couple days to look at apartments because pictures of places just aren't the same as seeing the place with your own eyes. I have some places in mind to look and I'll take some pictures for anyone that still is deciding like me! (any places anyone wants me to explore?)

Thanks for the info Duc. I guess instructions on how to provide proof of insurance will be included in the packet they are putting together?

Sorry Asian Plaaya, I am already locked into a lease at an apt with a friend of mine otherwise I'd be all for it. Anything to save a little. Good luck with the search. Some close apts off of Blanco near Wurzbach (which is a staight shot to take to school) are pretty nice if you don't want to live right next to campus. Also I heard that Fountainhead off of Medical are nice apts and they are close to the Med center.

Yeah I have insurance through my work, so I am also hoping they will give us some more info on what we need to do about that.

OK rfs, my response to your questions in the TWU thread:

no, I'm not in the accelerated program, regular 2 year, just like you ;) Or did you get lucky and get bumped? I'm willing to bet I have one of the lowest GPAs of the people that got in here (its much lower than my TWU one because of the dif way they calculate them) but I had a great interview, I volunteer, had experience from a program I was in in high school, and my TEAS score was really good. Its the combination of those that saved me.

I'm probably not moving until a few days before orientation. I'm just finishing up my degree this semester, and I need to keep working through the holidays to save up what $$ I can. I did a little research on apartments, but it looks like I'll be living with some family that I have out there to start off with. I was considering looking to see if anyone needed someone to sublease their apartment for the spring, because I wouldn't need a place for the summer, I'd just come back to Houston. I'm still hoping you get in to TWU so you can decide which would be better for you. Moving IS stressful!
