UTHSCSA Spring 2012

Published

I know it's a little early, as applications are due until July 7, 2011, but I'm excited already and want to hear from others applying for the Spring 2012 semester. Anyone submit their application yet or in the process of submitting?

I actually just called, and they told me that we would get it after we take the TEAs and depending on "how we did" we will be given specific instructions through the supplemental packet on what to do next...I dont know if this means if you do fairly well you go on to the next step which is essays...but if you dont you get something else?

Pretty Confusing, but if this is the case at least they will let you know the score isnt to par before they make you write the essays.

Stay Positive!

Hey everyone. I just called to the SON and asked about how they are accepting TEAS test scores from people that have taken it prior to the actual letters for this applying term, for example I was concerned about people that applied last semester when they were still allowing them to take the TEAS test multiple times and were taking their highest score.

I was told that people that just had their scores forwarded and choose not to take the test would have only their first attempt looked at because it would not be fair to us who applied new to this semester and are only allowed to have our first score counted. They said that even if the people who forwarded their prior scores have taken it say like 3 or 4 times just to try to get a better score each time that it did not matter. Only their first time is looked at.

I think this is completely fair since there are some of us out there who have never taken the TEAS test and were not allowed to take it multiple times only to up our scores.

8/10 - I took my TEAS this morning at the UTSA Downtown test site. There were about 15 others there, also. Our scores were initially blocked (for about an hour), so we didn't get instant feedback, and had to suffer not knowing during that time. I know, it's nothing compared to what others had to wait, but still... Unfortunately, I lost track of time on the math part and with about 4 or 5 questions to go, the screen changed from taking the test to a dialogue box that told me I exceeded the time for that section -- what a nightmare !! It made taking the next two sections a little nerve wracking....I kept thinking about the math .... ugh! So, the math whizzes don't need to worry, but if you're one of the slower ones, like me , make sure you look at the time on each page and MOVE ON if you get stuck on something so you don't run out of time!! You can choose an answer and go back if you have time left at the end......lessons learned.

Good news, though, is I made an 88.7, so I guess I didn't mess up too badly on any of the other parts -- thank you, JESUS!! I am SOOO glad this part is done with. I need to do laundry BAD, but I think I'm gonna take a nappy-nap first.......ZZZZZzzzzzzz...best wishes to all who still need to take the test!

I AM GLAD IT'S OVER!!!!!! Now just the waiting game....I felt like the science section was hard and nothing like the ATI study guide. The test was closer to the online practice test. I felt like it was enough time except for the math section. I got 80% and 90th % nationally :crying2: My GPA is 4.00 and I am hoping that it might help me out a little. I hope it will work. This is way too much stress to go through again. Now I just need to figure out how to calm down and stop thinking about it. For everyone else that needs to still take the test GOOD LUCK!!!! Do they go strictly by scores or do they look at other stuff like the experience and such? It's going to be hard to stop thinking and speculating....Keep us posted!

In result of your high score...What did you study and how did you study? I took the test yesterday at the same place and didn't do good at all! sorry if it's too many questions...I would just like to know. THANKS!!!!

Hey ah210! Im sorry to hear the news, but i wouldnt give up yet. Im assuming the average teas score of this Spring term will go down considering the change that we are only allowed one attempt at the exam. Did you get the ATI TEAS V study guide?

Hey everyone, I called up to the school this morning asking about when the supplemental applications will be going out and the woman I spoke to told me that it would be around the end of this month!!! That's a lot longer than I expected. I figured it would be at the end of next week since the deadline is on Monday at noon. I've been so stressed over this process just because I do not like waiting around and having no control over a situation that means so much to me. I just hope I did well enough on the TEAS test to get in, but knowing how competitive this school is, I cannot stop wondering.

Also I noticed on older threads that some ppl were keeping up with application process through the uthscsa facebook page because they used to post when things were going to be mailed out. I wish they still did that. And I'm sure that would cut down on all the calls and emails they are receiveing. That they keep saying is the reason they are being slowed down.

Sorry you didn't do as well as you wanted, but don't count yourself out yet....it all depends on the averages, so keep a positive attitude....expect the best outcome. No matter what, if nursing is in your heart, even if it's later than you want, keep after it and YOU WILL GET INTO NURSING SCHOOL!!

I did buy the ATI TEAS Study Guide (as a packet with 2 online tests) and I went through every section doing all the practice problems, then I took the 1 of the 2 comprehensive written tests in the back of the book. I got an 86 on the book written test, did some supplemental study by getting info on the web and reviewed the study manual a little more on parts I was weak on, then I took 1 online test and got an 84. I did a little more review on some of my chem I notes and got an 83 on my 2nd online test.

The thing about the test is you just don't know which details will be asked for the science part. I studied more chemistry since the practice tests I took had chemistry topics I was fuzzy on, but then the actual test chemistry questions were more basic....say, what??? Anyway, I would say to be safe, you should have already taken A&P I, II, Microbiology and Chem I at a minimum, then make sure you do some type of TEAS V review manual and take the practice tests. This should prepare you well enough.

Best wishes to all.....let's see how it goes next week....!

Me again......I forgot to ask if anyone got the email yesterday/today saying the SoN did not get your TEAS scores and wanting a reply on when/whether you were going to take the test, as well as a warning that scores were due by Noon on Monday, 8/15??? I took my test Wednesday @ 9 am @ UTSA Downtown site...did anyone else get this email that took it the same time?

I got one and I started hyperventilating.....(ha,ha, that was a practice question topic).... Unfortunately, I just saw their email 10 minutes before 5:00, so in a panic I quickly copied/pasted my ATI results report and sent to them like 2 minutes before 5......I just checked my email again and they had replied 1 minute later saying they did receive my scores after all....must have been a glitch on the computer system. Thank God that was resolved before the weekend....I would have been a nervous wreck all weekend!!

Make sure to check your email for this letter, just in case!! Reply to them with your test date/info and ask them to reply back to confirm that they have your scores after all........I bet whoever took the test on this date got the email, but I think it should all be worked out by now.

Man, I think I'm gonna have a heart attack before this is over!!:uhoh3: Hey, if there's anyone out there that wants to get together for a, ahem, cocktail to "SHARE EMOTIONS" after all this is over, I AM SOOOOOOO IN!!!!!

I got it yesterday and I panicked too! I replied with the date and location that I took the test especially since I took it on August 4 (plenty of time for them to have received scores!) I didn't get an e-mailed response back so I called this morning and they confirmed that they received my scores.

I was trying to avoid calling for any reason but since they didn't reply to my e-mail and deadline being on Monday, I had to be sure they received my results!
