  1. @ladydeeb....You order it right away and have to pay by end of Dec or beginning of Jan and the financial aid will have to reimburse since I think it's expected it won't pay until after the payment is due.
  2. @ladydeeb....Price ranges for the computers range from approx $1200 to $2000 plus tax. If you haven't gone to the UTHSCSA School of Nursing website, you should go so you can see their required courses. I agree with your plan to see an advisor to review your courses to confirm which will be accepted as pre-reqs. Good luck!
  3. @ladydeeb......Try this link: http://studentservices.uthscsa.edu/pdf/FinAidForms/2011-12/COAs2011-12/UGNursingCOA2011-12.pdf to get estimated cost of attendance. Keep in mind that if your room/board is less you should use your numbers. Also, if you're covered for health insurance already, you don't need to buy the school's. Best wishes! To anyone else out there that's been admitted for Spring 2012, I received my blue criminal background check notice card this weekend. I got my fingerprints done the weekend after we were notified of admission, so this will give you an idea of how long it takes for a clear background check. Hope everyone is doing well and if you're like me you're finishing up your classes this fall! C U soon! -WBA:nurse:
  4. My email was sent at 2:36 pm. There are deadlines for fees to be paid by this Friday (10/14), so if you are mailing in a check, send today if possible!! I have a feeling the emails may be in batches, so keep checking if you haven't seen an email yet...best wishes to all!
  5. @hookemhorns012 - thanks for the info on computers. One followup on that, though, on the amount of the books ($1K or $800), was that for books needed for the entire 4 semesters of nursing school, or what? Also, can you give any feedback on Pharmacology? The reason I'm worried about this is because in the Traditional program last time I looked, and from what I can tell, it's a 1 semester 3-hour course, but in the Accelerated program it's broken down into 3 semesters for 1-hour each course. I'm thinking having it over 3 semesters would be more manageable than having it all in 1 semester. Maybe you've heard something from people in the Accelerated program? Thanks & best wishes to you!
  6. @friendlysmile - Thanks for replying to my many questions. I hope I get to see your 'friendly smile' if I get accepted for entering Spr 2012. I bet you're excited about being almost done! Best wishes to you:).
  7. Hey @Meg5G, I'm glad to hear you did well -- HELLO -- If you had my professor, you will understand the "HELLO"! He's a trip! I'm glad I took him because I heard he teaches you what you really need to know in OrgChem/BioChem for nursing. So far I agree. There's so much to learn, but I'm putting in lots of hours and hopefully it will pay off in the end! Thanks for the offer on help! @friendlysmile, thanks for the info on the schedule. I've always heard Pharm is one of the toughest classes. In hindsight, is there something you wish you would have done to have better prepared? Any tip, suggestion, or advice is greatly appreciated (on Pharm & in general). Also, any tips/info on availability of externships during summer sessions? BTW, when will you be graduating? Thanks for posting! OK, one more thing...can you give an approximation of what you paid for the computers (with all the applications/books loaded) and estimate of what we should expect to pay per semester besides the computers? Thanks....I'll stop before I wear out my welcome (I saw the tuition link but I don't understand all the different categories of charges, other than residential/non-residential).
  8. @acmontalvo, I am taking chem II @ SAC with Dr. ********. He decided to push the test back until next Thursday --HALLELUJAH!! !! Best wishes on your test & thanks to all for the feedback!!
  9. I just completed/paid my Supplemental App online and then closed the window, opened a new browser to try logging back in to the app site, but wasn't able to login anymore. I guess once you submit, you have no more business there, so they shut you out. Did anybody who completed their application also experience this? Just wondering... What a relief -- I'm glad it's done. I wanted to do it asap 'coz I need to focus on Chem II this weekend (1st test on 3 chapters on Tues)! I really had to work hard to trim the fat/bull from my essay to get the 800 chars. I used 799 on questions 1 & 2, and 800 on question 3 -- talk about pushing it to the limit!! Good luck everyone!!
  10. this is too weird! so, here's the last email i got....should be the same for all.....but i'm thinking that maybe they are misreading the letter and really believe, from their interpretation of the wording, that they were accepted! maybe they think the 2nd round means they were actually accepted and the supplemental app is just paperwork they need to fill out and return (including their signed acceptance letter they expect in the supp app)? if you stretch it and are incredibly optimistic, maybe someone would interpret this email as having been accepted. the "...if you receive and accept an offer of admission" -- maybe the person thinks they got the offer and the "if" is for "if" they accept an offer of admission? i underlined the phrases that may have been misinterpreted. if this is the case, you gotta love 'em ......very positive attitudes :redpinkhe!! (even if it does give us all a heart attack!) dear applicant, this email is to inform you that we have received your teas score and you have made it to the 2nd round of the spring 2012 traditional bsn application process. please continue to be patient as we are assembling the supplemental application. we will send it out to you via email as soon as it is complete. also, at this time, there is no need to send in transcripts or update courses to the office of admissions & student services or nursingcas. any updates or information that we need from you will be collected if you receive and accept an offer of admission. thank you and best of luck, office of admissions & student services school of nursing the university of texas health science center san antonio
  11. @acmontalvo....thanks for the computer info! Here's a link and attached pdf file showing cost of attendance for the SoN, undergraduate program for 2011-2012. Check out the Start date in Spring 2012 -- it's 1/9/12!! Also, for those with kids, Spring Break is shown as 3/5/12 to 3/9/12. I'm not sure what all the line items mean, but at least we can use this to do more detailed tuition planning! The URL is: http://studentservices.uthscsa.edu/pdf/FinAidForms/2011-12/COAs2011-12/UGNursingCOA2011-12.pdf UGNursingCOA2011-12.pdf
  12. @ChristinaL....THANK YOU for the link on the computers. I don't think I had seen this yet. I can look them both up online. I hope our costs aren't too, too much higher than the $1900.....let's keep our fingers crossed. BTW, did you take A&P Flex at NVC with Mr. Harrison last Spring? I had a Christina in my class that wanted to apply to the SoN at UTHSCSA:)!! If not, I hope we get to meet in the Spring 2012 nursing class!!
  13. Has anyone heard what the price range is for the computer we will have to buy? I understand it comes loaded with applications we'll use and also our electronic textbooks. I'm thinking $1500 to $2500.....hopefully that's too high !
  14. @Viki77...I appreciate the info....it all helps. Great idea to get the thought process and essay draft going to have something to work from when the real McCoy is received; the hardest part is getting started...Best wishes to all!:)
  15. What info do you have about the essay topics? Is it like the "why do you want to be a nurse" and "what qualities/characteristics do you have that will make you a good nurse" or that kind of thing? Please share if you have info about the questions that will be asked, or that have been used in the past. THANX A MILLION!!!!!!!
