Nurses with criminal background
Hey nnurse27...I will for sure let you know if I hear anything from the BoN. So when did your declaratory order go into review? Oh, and an update...you should make sure that you call alot because I called on the 8th of November and was told that it went into review on the 1st of November. Then I waited a little over a week before calling again and this time I was told that there was nothing listed on my file and that they had no idea what was going on with my paperwork. So they said they would have to call me back...I waited and called back repeated times before anyone responded and then was finally told on the 18th of November that because they didn't know when my paperwork really went into review that they would "back-date it" for the 7th of November and put it into the stack near the papers that actually went into review on the 7th. And so I recommend that you call and make sure about what is going on with your paperwork. I call them everyother day trying to make sure in case there are any changes. Also they only have one person that goes through all of the declaratory orders they recieve for the entire state of Texas...I really do not understand how that is possible...seems very inefficient. Good luck to you and your declaratory order!!! Hope atleast we hear something soon.

Declaratory order to Texas BON
Hey everyone. I was recently accepted to a nursing program that starts in Jan 2012 and had to file a declaratory order. I was told that it takes 45 days for them to make the initial decision. In this step they can either approve you or send you for further review to the enforcement department. I was told 2 different things when i call the BON regarding the 45 day deadline. One woman told me 45 calendar days and another woman said 45 business days. I am hoping that it is the 45 calendar days because if not I may not get my paperwork from them in time to start school in january. It's crazy how something that happened 14 years ago when I was a minor can really impead on ones hope of finally becoming a nurse. I just pray that the BON is speedy with this decision.

So does anyone know how long it took to get the decision back from the BON? I submitted a declaratory order and was told it went into review on Nov 7th. I live in Texas and I have called the BON multiple times to check on the status and have been told 2 different time frames on when I should expect a decision. One woman told me 45 calendar days from Nov 7th, and I explicitly asked...so I count everyday even weekends and holidays from that date...just to clarify what she was saying and she told me yes everyday starting at that date. Then another woman told me 45 business days from Nov 7th. So I also asked this woman...only Monday thru Friday then?... She said yes and also told me not to count any holidays such as Veterans day, Thanksgiving and the Monday after Christmas. I have called probably around 10 different times and still they will not allow me to speak to a supervisor so I can have my questions answered about which is the correct timeframe. I am becoming very discouraged because I have been accepted to a Nursing Program here in Texas but the school won't even allow me to start until I get a letter from the BON approving me to take the NCLEX. I just don't understand how a school can keep you from attending when it should be my decision whether or not I want to spend the money on attendance without knowing whether or not I will be approved. It just seems that they don't have the right to not allow me to attend when they have already sent me an acceptance letter.

UTHSCSA Spring 2012
I'm in the same situation with having finals that week and am also very concerned with that being the deadline. I really think that they will work with us since we have already been accepted. I think that deadline is more realistic for the next application session for the Fall 2012 applicants because that is when they are only allowing you to apply when you have completed all pre-reqs. This just doesn't seem realistic with all the ppl that I am sure are still finishing up classes and won't even have grades posted yet...let alone trying to get a transcript. Especiallly with the Alamo Colleges because of them taking almost 2 months to get transcripts out lately. I am trying to remain calm and hopeful that they will work with everyone when they realize this. But it's hard...just because this is soooo important to me and I'm sure everyone else who has been accepted.

UTHSCSA Spring 2012
Ya I really hope that's what I going on. My last name starts with P and I haven't heard anything yet either. And I'm guessing if we don't receive anything by 5:00 pm then we probably won't her anything until tomorrow because I'm pretty sure that their office close at 5. Kinda worrisome having to keep waiting when you see other have already heard. We just have to be strong. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting.

UTHSCSA Spring 2012
hey girlwarrior...about the transcripts...I am very worried that we will not be able to get updated ones (after this semester is over) to give to the UTHSCSA (if we get accepted) in time before the spring 2012 semester starts and from what I understand, the uthscsa has to have an updated official transcript with all the prereq's before they let you start. So I don't know how they will handle this when it won't be our fault that we can't get it. Do you think they will work with ppl who run into this problem?

UTHSCSA Spring 2012
hi chriscast1. I would like to know where you did your CPR certification. And is it certified by the American Heart Association. And wow about all the different responses to when we will be finding out. I wish they were a little more consistent with giving out information...it's just driving me crazy waiting :anbd: and I understand that this process takes awhile. I just would love an email like the last one they sent out for the supp app saying that they would be sending out final decisions about acceptance on _____. Also I was just told that alamo colleges will have around a 6 week wait (maybe even longer) on transcripts and so I would love to know either way so I can order my updated one for the uthscsa if I get accepted or just an updated one to reapply with NursingCAS for the Fall 2012 semester.

UTHSCSA Spring 2012
Yay!!! I got my invite to the 2nd round!!! I was also a little uneasy about my TEAS score but who knows...I also think the average probably dropped because of the new rule of the 1st attempt being the only 1 that counts. CONGRATS to everyone who made it to the next round!!!

UTHSCSA Spring 2012
So has anyone heard anything different about when the supp application will be coming out???

UTHSCSA Spring 2012
Also I noticed on older threads that some ppl were keeping up with application process through the uthscsa facebook page because they used to post when things were going to be mailed out. I wish they still did that. And I'm sure that would cut down on all the calls and emails they are receiveing. That they keep saying is the reason they are being slowed down.

UTHSCSA Spring 2012
Hey everyone, I called up to the school this morning asking about when the supplemental applications will be going out and the woman I spoke to told me that it would be around the end of this month!!! That's a lot longer than I expected. I figured it would be at the end of next week since the deadline is on Monday at noon. I've been so stressed over this process just because I do not like waiting around and having no control over a situation that means so much to me. I just hope I did well enough on the TEAS test to get in, but knowing how competitive this school is, I cannot stop wondering.

UTHSCSA Spring 2012
Hey everyone. I just called to the SON and asked about how they are accepting TEAS test scores from people that have taken it prior to the actual letters for this applying term, for example I was concerned about people that applied last semester when they were still allowing them to take the TEAS test multiple times and were taking their highest score. I was told that people that just had their scores forwarded and choose not to take the test would have only their first attempt looked at because it would not be fair to us who applied new to this semester and are only allowed to have our first score counted. They said that even if the people who forwarded their prior scores have taken it say like 3 or 4 times just to try to get a better score each time that it did not matter. Only their first time is looked at. I think this is completely fair since there are some of us out there who have never taken the TEAS test and were not allowed to take it multiple times only to up our scores.

UTHSCSA Spring 2012
I called up there today to find out when they are going to unblock the results and keep getting the run around. First I was told that the uthscsa does not release the results and was instructed to call ati. Well I called ati and they said when there is a block on it, it is the school that has the block applied and I need to contact them. Well when I called back they just tell me that they will have to call me back later. AAAhhhh...the suspense is killling me and I do not understand how some ppl that took the test found out right away and now we are having to wait what seems like forever. I just want to know already.

I also took my TEAS test on this past friday at utsa. My score is also still blocked. I am dying to know what I got but honestly I am not too confident in how I did. Hope it's not as bad as I am thinking.
