UTHSCSA Spring 2012

I know it's a little early, as applications are due until July 7, 2011, but I'm excited already and want to hear from others applying for the Spring 2012 semester. Anyone submit their application yet or in the process of submitting?

Hi youresocurious,

There was actually another thread for the Spring 2012 but it's lost somewhere on this forum. It wasn't active anyway so I'm glad you started another one. I was wondering where all the 2012 applicants were!

I applied beginnig of April and sent my transcripts to NursingCAS a few days ago and they've already received it and calculated my GPA and everything. I'm not too excited about my GPA... kind of ruined it at UTSA but I'm maintaining a 3.8 at SAC so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping they give me a chance to take the TEAS at least.

I still have to take AP II, Micro, CHEM II, Art and Stat which I'll be taking in the Summer and Fall. So nervous but excited at the same time! I've also applied to the SAC Nursing program but UTHSCSA is my first choice.

Ah, I did a search and none pulled up hence why I made this. I was also wondering where all the applicants were. Are you using anything in specific to study for the TEAS in advance? If so, any recommendations? UTHSCSA is definitely my first choice as well. I plan to actually submit until May so I can include the grades of the classes I'm currently taking right now to help up my gpa a little. Fingers crossed throughout this whole process.

That's what I had originally planned - to take a class during Maymester before sending off my application to bring my GPA up. But they stated on the NursingCAS website that it might take up to 5 weeks to process transcripts upon receiving them. Not sure how true that is since mine was processed in two days. :/

I'm studying the the TEAS V study guide from ATI. From what I've read on this forum, it seems to be somewhat harder than the previous versions. Reading and grammar is okay for me, science is alright as well. It's the math I'm worried about. It's my worst subject. :(

Anyway, my overall GPA (UTSA and SAC combined) so far is atrocious so I'm a little scared. In my mind I'm thinking they're going to take one look at my application, go "Pfft, what was she thinking?" and toss it away. Lol. But I completed my Associates in Medical Assisting with a 3.8 GPA so, I dunno. I guess time will tell.

On a more positive note, maybe the very little response on this forum regarding the 2012 cycle means fewer applicants? :p One could only hope.

I love that positive thinking there about fewer applicants. lol

My gpa is average but any little helps. I'm at SAC as well currently and work as a Medical Assistant full time.

Thanks for the info on TEAS.

I just saw I typed July 7, 2011 when it's really July 1, 2011. I tried to edit but it won't let me.

Wanted to give this thread a little bump. :zzzzz

I'm still here. Last week of classes for me then just have to wait for grades to post then I'll apply. How's the studying for TEAS test going?

Hi youresocurious,

I just started studying a few days ago. I'm done with the writing portion. I thought it was rather easy. I started with the reading/language portion and I'm having some trouble there, mainly with the nouns and stuff (words like is and was). I hope that's not a big part of the test... I'd rather spend more time on the science and math.

I wonder where everybody is, though. I think last year's Spring applicants started talking right when applications opened. Still crossing my fingers about this being indicative of fewer applicants :D

Oh. Nevermind. They started in June :)

Gotta stay patient.

Yeah, it's still pretty early for there to be much discussion on here yet. I'll start worrying about the TEAS as soon as this week is over.

Hey all! Just wanted to join the rest of you in posting. It will be fun to follow - esp. over the next few months as we progress through the application process. I sent in my application today and I am waiting for my transcripts to be sent into NursingCAS :) I am so excited and can't wait to find out if we are going to get an invite or not! I know that the time is going to fly by!

Just got my TEAS study manual and will be hitting it pretty hard for the next few weeks - until summer classes start!

Good luck everyone!

:anpom:
