UTHSCSA Spring 2012

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I know it's a little early, as applications are due until July 7, 2011, but I'm excited already and want to hear from others applying for the Spring 2012 semester. Anyone submit their application yet or in the process of submitting?

No, you apply directly to UTHSCSA through NursingCAS.

Yes, after a few weeks you'll get an invitation from UTHSCSA to take the TEAS. I'm not sure if it'll be the same for the next semesters, but for the Spring 12 they only took the scores from the first time you took the TEAS. That was whether it was for UTHSCSA or any other school. They do accept scores from other schools though.

As far as pre-reqs, their policy will be changing soon, "The School of Nursing has implemented new requirements for applicants seeking admission to the Traditional BSN and Accelerated BSN Programs beginning in Spring 2013. At the time of application, all science prerequisite course requirements must be completed. Additionally, applicants must have completed at least 53 of the required 62 semester course hours of prerequisite courses at the time of application. The remaining 9 semester credit hours in the areas of art, social science, and humanities can be completed after deadline and prior to the first day of orientation (example: Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, History)."

But for Fall 2012, I believe it will still be you must have completed 42 of 62 before applying.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. I'm sure a lot of us have become instant experts this past semester. Lol.

How long after sending in the supplemental app did most of you recieve a reply. I made it to the second round but I got a really score on the TEAS (75%) If the average is 84% that means many of their applicants had low scores as well.... hanging on to this thread of hope!

Looking back at my e-mails, the supplemental app was due 9/19 and we got asked to send info for a Background Check 9/20 (which was quite weird) then on 10/10 we got our admission offers through e-mail.

I've heard a really large array of scores from people in the Dec 2013 class. Some scored in the 90s, some high 80s and some lower. I wouldn't get disheartened just yet. The TEAS score isn't the only thing they consider. :)

hi im interested in going to uthscsa but first i just need some clarification. i live in az and im debating whether or not i should move back down to sa. i heard that there wasnt a waiting list at this school is this TRUE? i was also told from my friend that i would need to take all my prereqs then take my teas test and apply to get accepted. alright so i did some research and i found out that you have to have 2.5 to 3.0 gpa and that there may be 500-600 applicants but they will only accept 125 students is this correct?

I think there is a waiting list.

Yes, you need your pre-reqs. After that, then apply. After you apply, then they will send an invitation to take the TEAS.

I believe to have a fighting chance to get in a 3.0 is the absolute minimum. A 3.5 would be more competitive.

& Yes, the average amount of applicants is 500-600+. They will offer admission to 140 and of that probably around 130 will actually go to the school.
