UTHSCSA Spring 2012

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I know it's a little early, as applications are due until July 7, 2011, but I'm excited already and want to hear from others applying for the Spring 2012 semester. Anyone submit their application yet or in the process of submitting?

I wasn't able to find the group!

Hello, I wanted to know about how much does it cost for the program? i can't find much about the cost of attendance.

@ladydeeb......Try this link: http://studentservices.uthscsa.edu/pdf/FinAidForms/2011-12/COAs2011-12/UGNursingCOA2011-12.pdf to get estimated cost of attendance. Keep in mind that if your room/board is less you should use your numbers. Also, if you're covered for health insurance already, you don't need to buy the school's. Best wishes!

To anyone else out there that's been admitted for Spring 2012, I received my blue criminal background check notice card this weekend. I got my fingerprints done the weekend after we were notified of admission, so this will give you an idea of how long it takes for a clear background check. Hope everyone is doing well and if you're like me you're finishing up your classes this fall!

C U soon!

ok thank you! It'll help a lot. Did you purchase your laptop yet? What are the price ranges for the mac and the pc?

Have any of you met with an adviser yet? I'm not a student there but I want to sit down with an adviser so I can prepare myself on what classes to take. I'm in a Vocational Nursing Program right now and am taking A&P which can be substituted for both a&p 1&2 and I want to get clarification to make sure it'll transfer. I spoke with someone from the admissions office and they said it would but I'm still not sure since the lady said it would but they wouldn't know until I applied. I don't want to wait until I apply, it would waste my time especially if they deny me because they don't accept.

@ladydeeb....Price ranges for the computers range from approx $1200 to $2000 plus tax. If you haven't gone to the UTHSCSA School of Nursing website, you should go so you can see their required courses. I agree with your plan to see an advisor to review your courses to confirm which will be accepted as pre-reqs. Good luck!

oh wow that's very expensive! And you have to pay out of pocket for it first right? I've seen their required courses. The course I'm taking has the prefix vnsg and it says it can be substituted as biol 2401 and 2402. But I take the course this spring so after the spring semester I'll meet with an adviser so they can evaluate it for me.

@ladydeeb....You order it right away and have to pay by end of Dec or beginning of Jan and the financial aid will have to reimburse since I think it's expected it won't pay until after the payment is due.

oh ok. Thank you :)

I just wanted to assure anyone who hasn't heard that you shouldn't give up hope! I was informed that the admissions committee met last Friday and that letters will be mailed on Nov. 15, so if you haven't heard yet, there is still a chance you're in!

For those of you who have been accepted, have you found any good resources for grants/scholarships?

I have a lot of questions and was hoping someone on here could answer them!

I'm looking into applying to UTHSCSA for the Fall 2012 & I know the deadline is right around the corner so there's somethings I want to figure out. First, do you have to apply to UT or some school before you can apply for the nursing program or can you apply directly to UTHSCSA? Second, after you do send the application you then get an invitation to take the TEAS? Would they accept your scores if you were to take it before they even made you the offer? ( I live in Dallas and attend TWU they require the TEAS scores before the application deadline so it would be cheaper for me to take the test once and send out my scores to both schools) Or do they require you to take the test at a designated location/time? Third, I thought I saw this on the website but don't know if it's 100% true, I can apply to the program even if I'm missing two prereqs (algebra & chem) and as long as I finish them before the fall starts I would be okay to start? I found out today that I have (almost) everything I need for this program so if there is anybody that could answer my questions or direct me with some links that could possibly answer them that would be great!
