UTHSCSA Spring 2012

Published

I know it's a little early, as applications are due until July 7, 2011, but I'm excited already and want to hear from others applying for the Spring 2012 semester. Anyone submit their application yet or in the process of submitting?

@acmontalvo I emailed the school last night and asked them about transcripts cause I'm in the same situation. I'll keep you updated on what she says.

My finals are Dec 12-18 here at HCC. That includes College Algebra and Chem II. They're going to lose quite a bit of people if they don't allow those to come in late I'm thinking.

I'm in the same situation with having finals that week and am also very concerned with that being the deadline. I really think that they will work with us since we have already been accepted. I think that deadline is more realistic for the next application session for the Fall 2012 applicants because that is when they are only allowing you to apply when you have completed all pre-reqs. This just doesn't seem realistic with all the ppl that I am sure are still finishing up classes and won't even have grades posted yet...let alone trying to get a transcript. Especiallly with the Alamo Colleges because of them taking almost 2 months to get transcripts out lately.

I am trying to remain calm and hopeful that they will work with everyone when they realize this. But it's hard...just because this is soooo important to me and I'm sure everyone else who has been accepted.

"We are aware of how long transcripts can take, but you should be fine if you requested them in time. If there happen to be any issues I assure you we will work with you closer to when that time comes."

This is the email they sent me back about transcripts

I'm in the same boat with my finals being the 2nd week of December...I'm sure it'll all work out though. Anybody else stressing about immunizations? I'm just now starting mine today!

Does anybody know how the titers work?

hello everyone..just wanted to share that i also got accepted..I'm from McAllen and I'm excited to go back up to San Antonio.I was accepted a year ago into the class starting in spring 2011 but i was unable to relocate at the time.Hopefully this year I can join you guys. And i will change my user name soon to rntob2013 since its outdated:)

I finally got my admission letter!! SO HAPPY!! They found out forgot to send out mine because my last name starts with Z... always on the bottom of name sheet.

I asked one lady from SON admission office, she said if we're unable to mail our transcript on time, we could ask our professor to write a prove letter close to the end, say your grade level is above C so far. Don't know still work or not

Specializes in CVICU.

I was also concerned when I read the info about the transcripts because I'm also at Alamo Colleges. I'm sure they'll work with us, but I hope Alamo Colleges will work with us too. I haven't exactly had the best experience with them thus far...

On another note, has anyone taken their CPR cert from Mastertrain here in SA? I'm thinking about going there to get (re)certified (I used to be an instructor... let that lapse... then I got First Aid cert and that expires in December).

Congrats!!!

I know I am ahead of myself, but I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa, does anyone know if you get scholarships from this program for nursing or if there are any websites or places to get grants or scholarships. Any help would be appreciated.

Ask your primary care provider to order bloodwork to check your titers. I did this during the spring and all childhood boosters showed. Basically, they check to see if you will have antibodies in your system against a particular "disease/illness".

This is what I did and it worked!

Good luck to ya and to everyone else out there...keep your heads up.

With regards to transcripts from Alamo Colleges, be persistant. Before our application deadline in July, I was experiencing the same issues with my transcripts from the Alamo Colleges. I went by their office every other day. Explained my situation and was able to get my transcript expedited. Although it arrived to NursingCas on July 7th, it all worked out. Just be sure you keep documentation on when you requested your transcript and all communications with Alamo Colleges regarding your status. UTHSCSA may also accept an "unofficial" transcript. Just keep in touch with both UTHSCSA and Alamo Colleges, etc.
