  1. I hear ya. I'm waiting for FA from SAC too. Was excited to get in to UTHSCSA, but need to figure out how I'm gonna pay for it all...it will work out. We are meant to do this, there will be a way. :-)
  2. We have till Jan to pay for the laptop...have you done your FAFSA yet? I too have a perfectly good laptop, but will have to buy another.
  3. Ask your primary care provider to order bloodwork to check your titers. I did this during the spring and all childhood boosters showed. Basically, they check to see if you will have antibodies in your system against a particular "disease/illness". This is what I did and it worked! Good luck to ya and to everyone else out there...keep your heads up. With regards to transcripts from Alamo Colleges, be persistant. Before our application deadline in July, I was experiencing the same issues with my transcripts from the Alamo Colleges. I went by their office every other day. Explained my situation and was able to get my transcript expedited. Although it arrived to NursingCas on July 7th, it all worked out. Just be sure you keep documentation on when you requested your transcript and all communications with Alamo Colleges regarding your status. UTHSCSA may also accept an "unofficial" transcript. Just keep in touch with both UTHSCSA and Alamo Colleges, etc.
  4. It makes me so happy to see all these acceptance posts!! If you didn't receive yours today, it will probably come tomorrow. Keep the faith! As we get further along our journey to beginning our education at UTHSCSA, we ought to try to get together...would be nice to meet everyone before hand...
  5. I believe WBAN is right...I received my letter at 2:42pm. and just so you guys know, my last name begins with a "C", incase they are sending them in alphabetical order...
  6. Me too!!! Finally! Best wishes to everyone!
  7. Well, based on how they did things for the folks that applied for Fall 2011, they first sent out an email and then an "official" letter was sent out by USPS, but things have changed a bit since the Fall applicants and things may be different...I hope we hear something soon!!!
  8. Me too! Nothing as of yet. I was told by UTHSCSA that they were wanting to get all letters out by today's date, but was told, "...no promises..." Hopefully today will be the day! It seems we all have been waiting so long, not only are my fingers crossed, my eyes are too!!! Maybe at 3pm we'll know something!!! Let's hope!
  9. girlwarrior, an email should go out first, then our "packet". The packet is sent via email. We will also receive a paper copy of our acceptance letter. All this info is based on how they did things for fall 2011 students, of course, it seems as though the whole application process has changed completely, so it may be completely different...hopefully we'll know something soon!
  10. girlwarrior and jp1180, UTHSCSA knows that the Alamo Colleges has a longer than normal processing time for all transcripts. I can't say if they would allow us to submit "unofficial" transcripts to their office as they are using NursingCas, but it is possible. As for the notification dates, I asked specifically as to when we'd find out and was given a date of Oct 10, but was told this was a "target" date and it was not guaranteed. Believe me, I am checking the status of where we all stand weekly as my plan B starts Oct 17 and I don't want to pass up an opportunity to begin a nursing program. I'll be cutting it VERY close. With the CPR certification, I will send you the info via private messaging. I am not sure that we can provide that type of information on this site, but it was by AHA and it was BLS for medical personnel. If anyone else is interested in the info, please message me and I will be happy to pass it on. WE are all in the same boat...waiting! I really hope we hear something soon. Perhaps we will receive some sort of update tomorrow, (Monday). They have been sending out updates/new info these past few Mondays. Hang in there everyone!
  11. First week of October! I was told before October!!! I think I am going to have to call to fish a bit myself. I am suppose to start another program if this falls through, and it's suppose to start Oct 17. I need to buy materials, books, etc. I sure wish we'd find out something sooner!!! This waiting is really getting to me! Thanks Mommy2MVP for the info...hope this week flys by!!!
  12. Well, as usual, we are all in the same boat. I applied to UTHSCSA for Fall 2011 but was on the waitlist. I was told that Fall was the first time they didn't have people withdrawl from the program. In addition, I heard there were about 20 people that as of late July, early August had not "passed" the background check and needed to submit additional info. Had these folks not reconciled their "issues" i would have gotten in...boo!!! I believe this is why they wanted to maybe do a "quick" check on everyone, to avoid having to alter or modify their acceptance terms, etc. I may call tomorrow to find out more info. I agree with you Jenuine as why would they ask for our SS# if we weren't actually a finalist?! SO, with regards to shots, I have completed mine. I would recommend to anyone that hasn't started their Hep series to start immediately. I didn't get the other required shots, rather had titers done. I also did the optional Meningitis, (why not)? Did my CPR BLS Dec of 2010, good for at least another year. May have to have titers redone as they were done in March 2011. If anyone is needing to get certified, feel free to message me...I can refer you to the class that I took. It was about $40 and took about 1/2 day (only because there were 2 of us signed up for the class). I hope we hear something VERY soon! I have been waiting almost a year! I hope to see all of you in class January 2012!
  13. Rainy Day, I am SO sorry. I have a post in a UTHSCSA thread too and didn't pay attention to where your post was from...sorry for the mild heart attack! SAC is regular tuition, approx 12 hours/semester +$700 + books. A friend of mine started in flex 1 and she said she found all het books online (Amazon, eBay, half price, etc) for about $350. SAC is the least expensive route and I continue to hear wonderful things about their staff, cirruculum, etc. If it wasn't for me wanting to get my masters, I'd be at SAC now. If I don't get into UTHSCSA, I'll start SAC in October. I'm sure you'll be great! Best of luck!!
  14. Hi Rainy Day! I did all my pre-reqs at SAC too...maybe we know each other?! A friend of mine just started UTHSC Fall 2011...she said it runs about $7000 (for the first semester). Tuition runs about $3000-$3300/semester, but you have to purchase a laptop from UT and books run about $2900. And that's if you choose the e-book version. Hardback books are more! Then there's your scrubs, stethescope, etc. SAC is a lot cheaper, just depends on what you want to do. I have taken all my pre-reqs for a BSN, so to me, it makes more sense to do 2 yrs and get my BSN, rather than 2 for ADN, especially being my goal is to eventually get my MSN! BUT, if you do SAC, there are quite a few schools that offer an online RN-BSN in one year. If I don't get into UTHSC, I will start SAC in Oct and once I've earned my RN, I'll do Texas Tech's online RN-BSN.
  15. 800 characters with spaces, punctuation, etc. I am really counting on knowing something soon. Hopefully it won't take them more than 2 weeks to process through everyone. I heard there were significantly less applicants and as long as you didn't bomb the TEAS, (not sure of UTHSCSA's definition of bombing), you should be ok. We'll see...
