I know it's a little early, as applications are due until July 7, 2011, but I'm excited already and want to hear from others applying for the Spring 2012 semester. Anyone submit their application yet or in the process of submitting?
What info do you have about the essay topics? Is it like the "why do you want to be a nurse" and "what qualities/characteristics do you have that will make you a good nurse" or that kind of thing? Please share if you have info about the questions that will be asked, or that have been used in the past. THANX A MILLION!!!!!!!
Sure! I have heard in the past that are about 4 different topics. One was what traits and qualities you have that will make you a good nurse and also another one about communication skills. But again, their supp app is a new thing so they could have changed everything! Thats really all I know.
@wban I don't remember seeing any "older" people there! I am not the one you are thinking of. I came late and was standing against the wall. I sat in cubicle 11 along the back wall when we tested. I am taking micro and a&p2 at northeast lakeview this fall. I have taken (obviously :)) the classes you are taking so if you need help or have a question you can email me. [email protected]. good luck to you this semester!!!
I spoke to the SON earlier this week and asked if there was an elimination prior to the email about advancing to the second round. They told me that they could not give out that information (so I am glad you were able to get that clarified). Another thing that I wanted to commend you on was your comment about the TEAS scores. We all know how competitive the nursing programs are, which is why we all strive for the best grades and test scores. That being said, those are not the only components to making a good nurse. Humility, kindness and consideration for others are all very important aspects of the profession as well. Unfortunately, there aren't any classes that teach these skills, they can only be attained by life experience. Normally I don't respond to threads but I just had to tell you how much I really do appreciate your post! Thanks again!!
Hie everybody! Just to let yall know I just spoke with the UTHSCSA SON admissions and EVERYBODY who took the TEAS test and submitted their scores got an email inviting them to the 2 round. So it had nothing to do with good scores or bad scores, there was no cut off. Also, for those of you who are worried about getting in with score of 87 or anything above 84 you should really stop worrying, it sounds silly for you to be worrying when your well above the average of 84. It also makes other ppl who made in the low 80's feel pretty nervous.

Not sure if you've seen this on the UTHSCSA site but this link shows the exact models of computers we'd get to choose from. I'm not sure about the Dell, but my sister just got a similar MacBook pro for about $1900. Hope that helps!
@ChristinaL....THANK YOU for the link on the computers. I don't think I had seen this yet. I can look them both up online. I hope our costs aren't too, too much higher than the $1900.....let's keep our fingers crossed.
BTW, did you take A&P Flex at NVC with Mr. Harrison last Spring? I had a Christina in my class that wanted to apply to the SoN at UTHSCSA:)!! If not, I hope we get to meet in the Spring 2012 nursing class!!
I found this page comparing the two...I really didn't take the time to read the whole article, so I'm not exactly sure where they are getting the cost from...
