UTHSCSA Accelerated BSN Summer 2015

Hi everyone!

I looked and looked on here but I didn't see a thread for people applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) Accelerated BSN Summer 2015 program, so I thought I'd start a thread. I just submitted my application (kind of late I know). How's it going for everyone?

Hi just wanted to share some information I received from financial aid in case anyone else has the same questions. You can't use your financial aid money to directly pay for the ATI software, your laptop, or your books. You have to wait until the financial aid money is disbursed and refunded to you. According to financial aid Due to federal regulations our office cannot release the disbursement no earlier than 10 days before the first class date. Most students pay for the laptop up front, then reimburse themselves when they receive the refund. According to the financial aid office Financial aid for the summer semester will be disbursed on May 2. The funds will pay your tuition/fees first. If there is money left over the funds will be sent to you in a form of a refund. They recommend you signing up for direct deposit to get your refund faster. Sign up early for direct deposit on inside.uthscsa.edu because it takes 10 days to go in effect. According to financial aid It normally take 2-3 business days after the funds are disbursed to show up in the bank. Hope this helps.

Emailed Debbie to ask about books in case the person I spoke with yesterday didn't have the right info (it didn't sound right that we'd have to wait until orientation). She confirmed we should use the books listed in the summer schedule. :)

Thanks for the information. Do you know what book we need for socialization 3270? I can't seem to find the book info anywhere.

So are most of you going with actual books vs Ebooks?

I asked about NURS 3270 in the email to her, but she didn't answer that one, lol. Wrote her back, but I think she had already left for the day. I'll be sure to let you know if I hear anything on Monday. Most of the books we're assigned are the same ones assigned to the ABSN class last year, so I wouldn't be surprised if we're assigned the same books for 3270 (Summer 2014 3270 Syllabus).

I'll probably go with actual books. On Amazon you can send yourself a sample of the Kindle ebooks to try it out. There are about five books from this semester that it looks like we'll use a lot again third semester.

Hey, just curious what yall might think. I have an event out of town that is predetermined and would be missing a Friday lab class. Have yall seen anything about missing a class or making it up. Do you think i should email the teacher now?

Yeah, the attendance policy is referred to in the syllabus for lab, but it doesn't seem to be online anywhere. I'd email the teacher just in case. ;)

Does anyone know what we're going to need for supplies for lab/clinical? I figured we'd need a stethoscope and medical scissors, but beyond that I'm not sure.
