UTHSCSA Accelerated BSN Summer 2015

Published

Hi everyone!

I looked and looked on here but I didn't see a thread for people applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) Accelerated BSN Summer 2015 program, so I thought I'd start a thread. I just submitted my application (kind of late I know). How's it going for everyone?

All the courses on Blackboard still need to be updated except for 3272. All the others are either set to Summer 2014's schedule or Spring 2015's schedule still.

Really? Mine are all summer2015 with summer2015 calendars.

Yeah, mine show as Summer, but the content for most of them is Spring 2015. Patho shows Spring 2015 dates and material, 3272 and 3273 have the Summer 2015 calendar/schedule, but when you look at the readings assigned and books required, it shows Jarvis 6th edition and the Jarvis lab book, which weren't required for us (though I doubt the reading assignments will change much). For the class showing Summer 2014 dates (I think it was the Professional Socialization one), the syllabus/content on Blackboard doesn't match the updated syllabus they emailed us a week or so ago.

I had previously posted in our class's Facebook group about the start date for Fall 2015. I deactivated my Facebook account but in case anyone's curious we will start fall classes on August 24th. From what I can tell our last summer class day is on August 18th and the term officially ends August 21st...so no real break in between Summer and Fall semesters unfortunately.

Probably not, but figured I'd ask. Is anyone going to Sunshine Cottage on Tuesday?

Hi,

Does anyone know what the ATI exam on the 2nd day of orientation covers? Does anyone know when we need stethoscopes and watches by?

Thanks

I'm not sure when we need stethoscopes and watches by, but ended up getting a Littman stethoscope and a cheap watch from Amazon.

The ATI assessment is supposed to be a critical thinking exam that we aren't able to study for. I believe there are 40 questions to be completed in 40 mins. We are supposed to take the assessment as a benchmark for our critical thinking skills and then when we finish the program we take the assessment again to see how much we've improved.

Thank you. See you next Thursday.

This link shows accelerated track students began Fall 2015 on Monday August 31. If this is correct that gives us a one week break between semesters =)

I emailed with Debbie Koehne about the schedule and she said we start the 24th, so no break in between. The plan was originally the 31st but they couldn't fit the full semester in that way.

I just applied for this program for the summer 2015 start... Any advice from current students?

I'm assuming you meant Summer 2016? I got my acceptance late in January and I believe 85 ish people were accepted, and I remember seeing some people got wait listed in this thread around that time.

It's a great program so far. The accelerated track is definitely fast paced but you learn a lot. It's a fairly new program so the faculty is pretty disorganized and we don't find out things until the last minute.
