UTHSCSA Accelerated BSN Summer 2015

Published

Hi everyone!

I looked and looked on here but I didn't see a thread for people applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) Accelerated BSN Summer 2015 program, so I thought I'd start a thread. I just submitted my application (kind of late I know). How's it going for everyone?

There was a glitch and the Registrar's Office is working on the issue. The school said they plan on opening registration again at midnight tonight to be fair to everyone.

😑😒 lame

But thanks for passing on the info!! 😁

Hmmm. I was curious as to what they meant by being fair to everyone since there is capacity for every student that has accepted a seat in the program. Interesting.

Yeah, I was wondering that too. Maybe the current accelerated class had issues too. That's the only thing I can think of. It looked like they had some first come, first serve clinical locations.

It's for all registration and the being fair isn't for us yet, it's for the further along students who have first come first choice at clinical sites, days, and time slots. :)

FYI - I spoke with the financial aid office this morning and they told me basically that I will most likely get offered way less aid for the next three semesters. The lady I spoke with said that since we are starting in the summer it's almost like we are getting a year's worth (2014-2015) of aid for one semester. She said many students end up surprised when they end up offered the same amount for the next fall-summer and have to divide it up between three semesters. A lot of people end up taking all of the aid offered in the summer and saving it for future semesters and/or taking out private loans because the aid offered later on will most likely not cover the cost of attendance. Hope that's not too confusing. It is a major bummer though so I wanted to give anyone who didn't know that a heads up.

And the 2015-2016 scholarship application is open for people who submitted their FAFSA.

Thanks so much, I am still going to talk to an advisor next week but I almost accepted what I need for this semester only and I am glad I didn't!

I'm probably going to need all of that plus whatever they offer for the next aid year to cover all four semesters. Broke people problems 😒

Yeah I definitely recommend talking to someone at the office directly if you any have questions about your situation, that's just what she told me. I actually did call about setting up an appointment and a counselor just answered my questions over the phone instead.

I'm definitely in the same boat, going to take all the aid even though I was really trying to avoid unsubsidized loans...idk what to do about renting an apartment and everything now blegh.

Was able to enroll in all classes except 1048 since the way they have it, dates/times overlap.

Same, I just registered but 1048 had a time conflict with 1047. I'm sure they will fix it soon too :) One step closer!!

Looks like the error on the course overlap has been corrected. I was successfully able to register for all the courses. I am beyond excited for May to get here! :D

Just noticed we already have some of our reading assignments for the first day of class, lol. :) Hope everyone has a Happy Easter!
