Hi everyone!
I looked and looked on here but I didn't see a thread for people applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) Accelerated BSN Summer 2015 program, so I thought I'd start a thread. I just submitted my application (kind of late I know). How's it going for everyone?
I thought the lab starts the same week theory begins. I know we need to buy scrubs for that. I don't know the color to get. I just wish they would send out a definite list of things needed! I like to plan ahead. Orientations is too far away. I'm slightly ocd like to have things in order at all times lol. Would it be crazy if I call the school to ask all the things we need for sure. 😂💉💊
Yea, I was told by someone in the traditional program now that clinical rotations at actual site will begin a few weeks into the semester. We have to do like a day kind of class/orientation before that I believe. The labs at the school in which we wear whatever scrubs start the first week. Don't quote me! Lol
Is anyone else looking for apartments around campus?
And...what do yall think it would be like to miss a class if you give advanced notice. I can't find anything online and was curious about the policy.

Can you please ask the person what color scrub we need for the lab. I know we need the orange and black for clinical. Lol I want to buy it now lol. Thanks 😆

I'm looking for apartments within a two mile radius of campus because I'd really like to walk to school and there's that really nice trail to walk nearby too. So far I like the location of the apartments on Cinnamon Creek best, but not sure which one I'm going to go with yet. My sister lives at Wolfe Run Apartments and she really likes it. Her boyfriend lives at Riverstone and he likes that one too. It's scary looking at reviews of apartments online! It seems like the good reviews are fake and all the bad ones are awful. Can't wait to get my financial aid so I can just sign a lease!
No worries lalapenna. When reading reviews, I always try to keep in mind that people are more inclined to take the time to write about a bad experience (to express their anger and frustration) vs a good one. Too bad amazon doesnt review apartments, their product reviews are usually right to a tee haha.
I emailed the school and asked for more info on clinical and lab and they responded right before sending out the dress code email. They said for clinical we can wear any black scrub pants (just make sure they're solid black as some have different colored stitching) and they prefer we wear leather shoes. They also mentioned we should receive additional info on what we will need for lab during orientation.

A dress code email? I haven't received any emails 😕

I had the same idea in mind - to wait until the school specifies what they require and by when since we wont likely have clinicals right away. I'm moving from the Austin area
. I went to school in SA for my undergrad so it'll be great to be back. Plus, SA has a more affordable cost of living and is a major medical capital so that's a plus! Living-wise we will be renting an outdated family home that has been vacant for the past few years - eeeeeeek!
The month of May cannot be here quick enough! Excited to meet our new nursing family
