UTHSCSA Accelerated BSN Summer 2015

Published

Hi everyone!

I looked and looked on here but I didn't see a thread for people applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) Accelerated BSN Summer 2015 program, so I thought I'd start a thread. I just submitted my application (kind of late I know). How's it going for everyone?

Hopefully black shoes means black tennis/athletic shoes are okay rather than most "nursing-types" of footware. Although, finding a pair of solid black tennis shoes may also be a challenge haha =)

You mean you don't want to look snazzy in those clogs!! They come in a variety of colors and styles to suit all your clogging needs.

Haha. I would totally go for the leopard print on those clogs if I was willing to purchase them  I have worn them before while volunteering. Luckily they were borrowed as I did not find them to be that comfy. Oh well. Fingers crossed for getting some black tennis shoes instead!

I found these shoes, they arent bad looking, all black, and only $65. I just need to find them and try them on. There are a few others on the Asics website. I played volleyball and they were good shoes.

Ooh that is super helpful. That's the same brand I've had for running shoes.

I love my Asics! I would like to purchase shoes that I can use for running also. I wonder if the mesh look meets the criteria stated in the clinical attire policy. Any thoughts?

I picked the other ones only because if any liquids or body fluids get on the shoe it will go right through the mesh.

I'm gonna assume they will say something. I'm a huge Mizuno fan myself, but they are athletic shoes with vents and mesh that I'll gamble to say won't work :(

I something use my volleyball shoes as tennis shoes and they have vents and if I wake in any water by accident...soaked socks haha

Has anyone gone and got their student ID yet?

I haven't. I was probably going to wait til April or even orientation. Are you going to get any shoes/scrubs now or wait til orientation?

I'm going to do it before orientation because I just don't like lines or waiting. But I will call the office and make sure I can get it first. I already ordered shoes, but I'll keep the receipt in case I need to return them. The generic scrubs I'll shop around for when I have time but the UTHSCSA scrubs I'll wait till April hoping they will send out more information. I just want it to be May already. Only 8 weeks 😁

Dang you're on the ball! Haha I can't wait either.

I am also waiting until orientation to get my student ID since I wont be moving to SA until late April. Oh and you were correct Barsumian...SON confirmed that the black shoes cannot have any mesh-type of material. Bummer. Oh well.

I'm waiting to see if they have a brand or specific requirements for the shoes so I'll keep the receipt and not used. Where are you moving from? Have you found an apartment or something here yet?
