Hi everyone, I just wanted to begin a thread for all UT Health SON students who are applying for Summer 2017. I didn't see a thread created for this term yet. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin this long journey. Feel free to share anything regarding the application process and/or ask any questions that you may have!
Did someone who attended the information session earlier this month say that they would begin notifying students of acceptance beginning on February 15 or did I just dream that?
I don't remember hearing that exact date but they did say around the 2nd-3rd week of February and they were going to try to have everyone notified be March 15th
Yeah, they didn't say that it would be the 15th. Her exact words were "we're going to try and have everyone notified by the fall application deadline (March 15th). We should start notifying people by mid-February (then she looked at the date) and said "and that's next week."
From what I gather from this, they're going to send out acceptances and notify all waitlist/denials this week. They'll then give the acceptances about a week or two to indicate whether they would like to accept their offer of admission. After that, they'll see how many spots they have left and offer them to the waitlist, then give them a few days to decide if they would like to accept. Once all spots are filled, they'll tell this to those who haven't been pulled off the waitlist, which should be around March 15.
TAMUHSC does this (although not in such a timely manner). I was waitlisted there and did not get pulled up and offered a spot. I assume this is also how UTHealth does it.

For those who have a transcript evaluation, did you have to submit a request for it or did they just send it?
I have called and asked about it and the registrar's office said the school has to request it. I called the school and was told the office of the registrar handles those, and that I'll need to request it from registrar.
I'm just needing some clarification, since I couldn't get one from either place.

Although it may be redundant to say so, this doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It has been proven in the past that not everyone gets an eval, even though the school has said before, including at the most recent information session, that everyone who applies gets one. Part of that 60 dollar app fee, is to cover the associated cost of doing the evals.
Just more inconsistency. Its a shame.

I think they process all of them first and then notify people. As for the notification date, I was notified about waitlist on a Monday and also notified about the waitlist being full on a Monday. Both around 12pm. Hopefully we will hear something tomorrow or this week!!
My last name starts with an R. Just to throw that out there!
I also believe that they will let people know who got accepted first, then waitlisted and denied.
We shall see!
