Hi everyone, I just wanted to begin a thread for all UT Health SON students who are applying for Summer 2017. I didn't see a thread created for this term yet. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin this long journey. Feel free to share anything regarding the application process and/or ask any questions that you may have!
This is what she directly sent to me:
Hello Andrea: I have asked Joann Mendoza in our office to contact you. The two-time limit, applies if the scores are sent directly to UTHealth through our school code. If you took the exam, through another institutions code those attempts do not count against our two time limit.
I only had my scores sent once directly though UTH's school code. In my email to her, she said it did not matter if I took at another school and sent to them. Because it was not tested under their code twice.
They can't see your hesi record if u did take under other schools code, but the two times meant we only send our hesi record to UT health twice in the lifetime, so since u send the hesi record under HCC, they count it as second time。
No, I don't mind.
Pre-req GPA 3.66
Science GPA 3.66
HESI:
Overall 86.8%
Reading comprehension 78%
Grammar 78%
Anatomy & Physiology 96%
Math 88%
Vocabulary 94%
I know on the website it says 75% or above in every section, but I feel that reading and grammar may bring my chances down.
So, that is why I wanted to retake if I don't get in for the Summer.
you mind sharing your overall stats?

I was also under the impression that we could take the HESI 2 times under their code, but thought by sending them my scores via another school code could possibly affect that 2 time policy. At the informational session she mentioned something about if you took it through another school code and wanted to retake for a better score to not send them the results from your first take or it would count against the 2 time limit.
If I don't get accepted for Summer I am going to retake it before the Fall deadline of March 15.

sorry . I just called them they said same thing. As long as u send them your hesi record twice you don't have another chance. But if u take the test under other schools name and didn't send them the record then u still have chance.
If they are planning on letting the first wave know this week, it is highly likely that they will do it tomorrow. From reading previous forums I noticed that for 2014, 2015, 2016 summer applications, they sent out emails on Thursdays for the first wave. We shall wait and see if they will keep the same trend this year.
This is why I am confused Brandon. I got told that same thing by admissions, but then something different during the online information session - but you heard differently in person.
I just don't want to beat a dead horse if I get denied. If they won't accept another HESI score if I apply for the Fall, then I don't want to waste $115 at prometric.
Does anyone think my scores could be adequate enough?

I don't think anyone here can say whether or not your HESI scores are adequate, but in my personal opinion of given the opportunity I would retest if you think you can do better. I have a 92% overall, but a 77% on A&P. According to UTHSC they look at the individual scores and not the cumulative.
I only got a 72% on my HESI a&p but everything else is above min. requirements, do I still have a chance of getting in?
Like I previously mentioned none of can say for sure, but I do know at the info session she said that they are looking for a 75% or higher in each category. I'm not sure if any of these scores are set in stone though.
Yes, I understand no one can really say for sure.
Seeing as I can't find a clear cut answer on the HESI retake, I feel like I am in a bind.
I guess I will have to wait and see what happens with this application cycle. I am planning to study for my TEAS after spring break, in order to apply for UTMB.

I will tell you that the TEAS was much harder than the HESI to me personally. I've been told by others at UTMB that the average score of those accepted into the program is around 85%...with most being over 80% and several in the 90's. To give you an idea of the difficulty, I scored an 83.3% and I was in the 92nd percentile of all students who take it.

I totally feel your pain! I have no back up! I'm going to be a nurse. Period. But maybe I'll have to take a longer route (ADN then BSN later).
I have an app into UTMB for summer (applied in October) and I just got the interview so I'm interviewing there next week. I'm hoping offers for both schools come out around the same time.
