Hi everyone, I just wanted to begin a thread for all UT Health SON students who are applying for Summer 2017. I didn't see a thread created for this term yet. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin this long journey. Feel free to share anything regarding the application process and/or ask any questions that you may have!
Hello everyone,I thought I should share my stats.
GPA: 4.0
Hesi: 89.6%
Honestly, I feel like I have a 50% chance of getting in. Some applicants with low scores and low GPAs have been admitted while others with high scores and high GPAs have been denied. Do they even thoroughly look at each applicant's application?
I believe u have more than 50% chance. Your stats r excellent.
How's everyone doing?Looking back on previous threads we could hear something within the next 2-3 weeks. :)
Out of curiosity anyone else looking into other BSN programs besides UTMB, TWU? I have given some thought to Texas Tech, but it seems they require additional nursing classes.
I doubt it, previous years heard in early Feb, but their deadline was Dec 15th. This year the deadline got pushed, ergo, the decisions will be pushed. I'm super stressed but trying to focus on Pathophysiology and Pharmacology. I have also applied to UTA and TWU. I did not apply to UTMB because I cannot move out to Galveston, nor do I feel that is a feasible commute.
That makes sense as well, but from the information session I attended they said notifications will be going out in February-March. Who knows how early/late we could hear though.
Are you taking patho and pharm through UTA or schools here in Houston?
I was told by Texas Tech that HCC offers their intro to nursing course, but pathophysiology would need to be taken at Tech.

I have only applied at UTH. UTMB is great, but too far of a commute for me. I did apply for summer and fall semesters though. From what Ive read, they are changing up the way they consider applications, so it is a crap shoot. I think they will probably try to expedite it because it seems as though the last year or two, they have always been behind. Could be first week of February, or well into March. Who knows. Im going to the information session February 8th, regardless.

I currently have applications in for UTHSC, UTMB, & UTA. I decided to not apply at TWU due to the program being 2.5 yrs. compared to the 15-18 months the above three are.

I am taking both at UTA as they are required for admissions to the UL program.
Brandon,
Did you apply to the online UTA program or on-campus?
I am steering away from TWU a bit because the classes I have in progress are needed to apply. So, I would have to wait an additional application period to have everything completed.

Online only. I have all the pre-requisites completed, a few considerations, but am not currently employed at a partnered facility.

I called and the nursing department said as long as the transcripts or scores were received by the school on or before jan 17, then you will be considered. Thank god cause my final transcript had a mailing problem and was received the 17 (aka over the 3 day weekend).
