Hi,
I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.
Thanks for your comments
Well I just took my HESI test....Overall 94.80%
Math 98%
Reading 92%
Grammar 96%
Vocab 96%
A&P 92%
Critical thinking 820 (wah, about this one)
Pre-req 3.68
Science 4.0
I want sooo badly to be soooo freaking happy for these scores because I studied every day this week but I have re takes on my pre-req gpa (2 classes now that Ive counted) and my CT score isn't above that 84% mark. So now I just wait and see what happens!
I haven't repeated any sciences so I guess that's good, just Govt and Engl from being a dumb teenager back in the day! Now Im hoping to see the Hesi hold come off my to-do list :)
Those are awesome scores! Way to go! Don't worry my CT score is 770. How did you manage to get a high score? I'm thinking about taking it again. The advisor told me not to, but my CT is so low.
Hey gals! I took my HESI today. I wasn't so happy with my scores for A&P and (surprisingly) Grammar...scored 84% on both. And CT...ouch. I got a 770. My learning style was auditory/analytical, and my personality is creative/people. Everything else was upper 90's, but I feel really discouraged. Trying to stay optimistic, but I need to be realistic as well :/ I wish I had time to study for this test like I did for the TEAS-V.
Good job, des! You did really well!
Thank you ladies!! Dont get discouraged ANYTHING is possible especially if you read the boards from past semesters the scores range so variously that you can never say "You wont get in" because you might have something they are looking for. I studied the evolve book for 1 week and had my husband help me with the vocab, he'd read the definition I'd give him the word, vice versa.
I keep trying to stay positive then I have my moments of "this or that" will be why I get denied. But in the end it doesn't help...I am going to stay positive that I am getting in even if it is a waitlist call before the 1st day of class lol. I didn't apply anywhere else so there is my downfall, but optimism is key.
heyjude, you have good scores too, you never know! & the positive side is you have other options to look forward to! You will get something :) either way we will all be nurses with bachelor's in the end.
jayn108, your scores were great and the CT is the low for both of us. There is still hope! Just look at the last semesters forums. Idk about re taking it because idk how they look at retakes? thats the scary part. Its kinda like this .....They tell you you can apply if you are 75% above on Hesi and 2.75 above on gpa, and 3.0 above on gpa. YET the trend of acceptance is way above that....
So like they say you can take it twice I am sure they want those who took it once and did great the first time, which you did!! CT may not be the hump that breaks the camels back

Thank you so much desjt3! You did great on your hesi exam! We are all going to be great nurses one day!

It depends on who you registered to take the test for. If you registered to take it through Uthsc they will send it to them automatically. If you registered to take it through tamhsc they will send it to tamhsc automatically and you will have to order one for uthsc. Does that make sense?

Those are awesome scores! Wow. Truthfully though, no one can relax when it comes to getting in. If there are a bunch of "duds" applying to get in for the spring, people with a HESI CT score of 750 and a GPA of 3.25 could get in. If there are a bunch of super smart people applying for the spring semester, however, there could be people with 900 CT scores and 4.0 GPAs who get rejected. I don't see why ANYONE should be nervous though because it is impossible for us to know what caliber of people are applying this go round. Seriously desjt3, in my opinion, those are amazing scores.
