Hi,
I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.
Thanks for your comments
Really? Thats great to hear! Do you happen to know if the us government and history prereqs are required at the time of application? I'm out of state looking to apply in Texas and am seeing an overwhelming amount of schools in that area that require thoses classes, but out of state they aren't required.

Yes, at the info session the women informed everyone that if they were out of state, a texas government was required. She told us she had been receiving quite a few calls about this. She did not mention anything about history.
Wow was that really necessary courtney for calling me a "dud?" I have a previous degree and want to change careers I got a 770 on my CT a 3.25 in science, and a 3.71 prereq. Can't believe it
Haha, are you serious!? I'm not sure you understood what I was saying. I didn't call anyone on here a "dud." I'm saying if the majority of applicants applying for the spring have super low scores, there will be more people accepted with the scores you might be considering borderline, because then those who are nervous about their scores might not need be. I never called anyone a dud. Just like I didn't call anyone a genius. It's obvious because even people with 4.0s get rejected. No one on here knows what caliber of people are applying. Don't take what I'm saying out of context. I'm just as nervous as anyone, but I've learned that things are out of my hands. It seriously comes down to who applies, and how many applicants followed directions and turned everything in that they needed to.

I was way out of line. Sorry Courtney.
pls did anyone take the version 2( that is for those taking hesi for the 2nd time).pls if you dont mind me asking, was it completley diff from first, I know it cant be same questions but was it just similar questions or was it completely different? Am just curious and nervous cos I take mine soon. Thanks
@timewilltell-I took the HESI A2-V2 on Friday. The questions aren't the same but the format is, each section has the same amount of questions. My first time to take HESI A2-V1 I didn't study, I came right out of a 16hr semester and decided that I would just try my luck. My scores weren't bad but I had high B's and 1 A (87% overall, 830CT)
Almost a year later I took version 2 and studied an entire week before I took the test. I went down from 830 to an 820 on CT because I second guessed everything I thought was right. One girl said she felt V2 was harder, to me it was the same test, different questions. GOOD LUCK!! :)
Those are awesome scores! Wow. Truthfully though, no one can relax when it comes to getting in. If there are a bunch of "duds" applying to get in for the spring, people with a HESI CT score of 750 and a GPA of 3.25 could get in. If there are a bunch of super smart people applying for the spring semester, however, there could be people with 900 CT scores and 4.0 GPAs who get rejected. I don't see why ANYONE should be nervous though because it is impossible for us to know what caliber of people are applying this go round. Seriously desjt3, in my opinion, those are amazing scores.
You are so right! I feel like the deadline isn't even here yet & I'm getting impatient lol I am so obsessed with trying to put a scope on what they look for that I KEEP re-reading old forums. I saw that one student said the average age of students in the accepted classes is 27-32. Im 24...
Also read a lot about how the Spring is the hardest to get into because of the short amount that they accept. (80 students) and that those with scores like mine, but hold a previous bachelor's degree will get accepted first. Just something good to know.
I'm hoping my age is looked at as "mature" enough. I don't have a bachelor's but I have two associate degrees that I just graduated with...but for some reason I dont think that matters lol.
Hopefully I can pull myself away from reading and keep telling myself I have a shot! :) I think we all do!!

They only look at 3 things: Science GPA, Prerequisite GPA, and HESI scores. This is information I got at the information session last Monday.
