  1. Done!!!! How did it go for everyone?
  2. Does anyone know how many they select for the proctored essay? I know they accept 96 students into the program.
  3. I got invited to the proctored essay!!!! What should I expect? How can I prepare for it?
  4. My grades in all the science prereqs and actually all other nursing prereqs are a B and higher. Do I really need to invest more money to retake classes that I got a B in? I know nursing schools are competitive, but the reality is straight A students don't necessarily mean that they'll be great nurses, right? I get so frustrated with this process because I feel like I, and others similarly aren't given the opportunity to showcase our dedication and commitment to our career paths because of subpar GPAs.
  5. I'm in the same position. I have a good prereq gpa, but my undergrad gpa is below 3.0. There are schools that require 2.5-2.75 to apply, but the likelihood of being accepted is low, but it does happen. Don't be discouraged! You aren't the only one. This forum is helpful, so don't hestitant to ask for advice to those that have already gone through the process and made it.
  6. Thanks for the words of encouragment :) At this point I've completed my prereqs and am looking into schools to apply to. My undergrad gpa isn't a true representation of what I am capable of. I've matured and have worked hard on my prereq to show I'm a better student now. I just need a school to see beyond my past GPA, which is a huge challenge in itself, but I'm willing to do whatever I have to do to get accepted. Hence, I've made myself vulnerable on this forum to seek any help :)
  7. I looked into Duke, and they require at 3.0 GPA.
  8. Where can I apply that will accept a 2.75 cum GPA with a 3.4 prereq GPA? I'm having the hardest time with my school search. I'm interested in the BSN and ABSN programs, and am willing to relocate. Help please :)
  9. Are the requirements that different that it would be an issue getting a job in the US with a Canadian BSN? Is this commonly done, or is it generally not recommended to get your BSN out of the country as a US citizen?
  10. Does anyone know if a BSN recieved in Canada would allow me to also work as a BSN in the US? How does that work? I am looking into a BSN program in Canada, but I'm a US citizen.
  11. This process is so stressful! Does it really need to be so complicated? Lol Why are so many different programs and educational paths offered if they all aren't equally accepted? With the amount that schooling costs I'm trying to be cautious and plan for the best outcome for myself, but I'm starting to feel like there are strings attached to everything related to nursing-programs, required courses, degree type, debt and job availability. Am I stresssing over nothing?
  12. Well, I'm not exactly sure what I want to do beyond becoming an RN. I would like to obviously continue my education beyond that, but I think I'd like to explore yhr different options while I'm in clinicals or after working as an RN for a while. I just hear so many things about ASN and ABSN graduates struggling to find jobs and that the preference are nurses with BSN.
  13. I'm a second degree student pursuing nursing and I wanted your input on which path I should pursue. Should I pursue ABSN, BSN or ASN? Which would be most beneficial, considering finances, competitiveness, and job availability based on those various programs? Keep in mind I have already accumulated just under 30k from my first degree and additional classes to fulfill my prereqs.
  14. How does where you took your prereqs determine anything?
  15. Are there any ABSN programs that just require prereq GPA?
