UTHSC-Houston Spring 2013

Published

Hi,

I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.

Thanks for your comments

Hi Everyone! I just come across this link and I love how everyone is sharing info. I am also a hopeful applicant. I just want to wish everyone the best of luck. I just hate waiting to find out..ugh!

Wish you all the best as well peaches1018.

You are so right! I feel like the deadline isn't even here yet & I'm getting impatient lol I am so obsessed with trying to put a scope on what they look for that I KEEP re-reading old forums. I saw that one student said the average age of students in the accepted classes is 27-32. Im 24...

Also read a lot about how the Spring is the hardest to get into because of the short amount that they accept. (80 students) and that those with scores like mine, but hold a previous bachelor's degree will get accepted first. Just something good to know.

I'm hoping my age is looked at as "mature" enough. I don't have a bachelor's but I have two associate degrees that I just graduated with...but for some reason I dont think that matters lol.

Hopefully I can pull myself away from reading and keep telling myself I have a shot! :) I think we all do!!

Girl, you have to stop!!! I was doing this for like, six straight hours on Sunday, and my boyfriend finally told me to get off the site because I was driving myself NUTS!!! Like Courtney said...there are plenty of people that don't even meet the minimum requirements that are applying, and there are plenty of people that are perfect applying. I spoke to an adviser on the phone, and she told me that age has nothing to do with it in the application process (thank goodness, because I'm 20!), so relax!

This site is great, but don't abuse it! Remember what Courtney said. We have no idea what approach they take when picking who gets in and who does not - also remember that for a lot of people, this is their backup school. Meaning the people that get into their first pick will give up their spot at UTHSC-H if they are offered one. You have worked hard, we all have, and we have done everything in our power to get in. It's not in our hands anymore...now we just play the waiting game together :)

Hello, I'm going through some big problems. I took my chemistry class in 2001, and I'm glad UTHSC does not have expiration in prereq classes, but all other universities outside of Texas have expiration on prereq classes. My only problem is that UTHSC will look at it as retaking the same course, and that could hurt me. I remember Courtney and desjt3 posting that ut looks at how many times one has taken a course. I'm applying to NYU and Georgetown and they both what me to retake Chemistry. Don't know what to do. Help?

Thank you for slapping me back into reality lol I sound like a mad woman with all this stuff I read and think "OH NO!" I am def telling myself what I read came from prospective students, NOT the school so its just opinions and hear-say. I am so excited and glad to hear age has nothing to do with it! :)

Let's continue with the moral support, crazies like me are gonna need it! haha (Glad to hear Im not the only sitting on the forums for hours, we def need to let it be)

If you have already sent in your transcripts to UTHSC then you should be fine to register and re-take Chemistry for the other schools. I believe the only time after the deadline that you would RE-SEND your transcripts is if you've been admitted and have classes in progress...as you complete the last of your pre-reqs they want to have your updated transcript. By then them seeing your chem re-take wont matter...if that makes sense.

Who knows though how many students out there actually have absolutely no re-takes and perfect scores. I know they are out there, but I think a lot of us can relate on repeating a course or two for mistakes of being young and careless...

Did this help? ....I may have been confused by your question.

That answered my question and it was not confusing. Thank you so much, I signed up for the chemistry class. On another note, I read the entire UTHSC 2011 and 2012 forums, I guess I'm just crazy and want to figure out how they select their students. The world may never know.

As did I and its all so mixed around that we wont be able to put our finger on it, even if we do get accepted. By that point I am sure the odds and ends wont matter anymore!

I feel the same way you do. I'm going a little crazy myself :uhoh3: We all just need to stay positive and hope for the best.

For those of you who completed your HESI test at a prometric site, about how long did it take for the school to remove it from your "To-do" list? I called and they said it goes directly to the school of nursing, they evaluate to make sure you passed all sections by the requirements and if you did then they send it to be placed with your application. Just wanted to see about how long it took for others...

desjt3,

Mine took about two weeks before they took it off of my to do list. Best advice I can give is to call and bug them about transcripts, tests, immunizations, etc. They unfortunately do lose things or forget to put them in. Be on top of your stuff. Keep emails they send you back so you have reference for later if needed. Best case scenario is ask them to take the things off your to do list while you are on the phone with them so you will have confirmation from them and then it's off your list and you can breathe a little! Best of luck to you!

Thank you ktdidit! I appreciate that :) I will def call them again in a few days to see if they received the scores and can remove the "to-do."

Are you applying for Spring as well or are you already in the program? I would say best of luck to you back but if you are in the program, THANK YOU!!
