UTHSC-Houston Spring 2013

Hi,

I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.

I heard from a friend who is a traditional student that the programs are the same in content and hours of clinical. The difference is when the clinical occurs. In the pacesetter program, clinical happens in the last semester. In the traditional you get clinical along with class from the 1st semester. So my friend explained that for her, she would not be a good candidate for pacesetter because she likes that she learns something and then she gets to see it in clinical during the same semester. Pacesetters have to wait until the last semester to apply what they learned in class. I can't imagine having to recall all that I learned in the past 3 semesters in the last semester. I also heard that it is a tough program and that many students do not make it all the way to the last semester.

Thank you! UT Updated their website I guess here recently because I read up on their pacesetter program which they said is only offered during the Fall semester. It is suppose to look better after graduation because techincally you worked "Full time" for a semester as a Nurse. However, I too would like traditional because it sticks better when you apply what you're learning at the same time.

Are you applying to the Spring semester?

I'm getting so nervous because UTHSC has not taken my hesi out of the to do list, they have no replied to my email, and they don't pick up the phone. Wow

Try to find a number for the prometric site you went to...start there and then go back to calling the school. I am sure they have it, they prob just haven't gotten around to to-do lists...and I bet if you get them on the phone they will pull it open right then and check and remove it. Itll be there!! :)

Thank you so much desjt3! I called prometric, and then they told me to call elsivier, but they were closed. Will try again tomorrow. Appreciate your help again.

Thanks! Is there anything in particular I need to do to have my test scores sent to UTHSC? I registered through prometrics and it asked for the school code. I paid $90 does that include a transcript/ test scores sent to the school??

That's all you need to do. Once you type in the school code, it will automatically send your scores to that school after you finish your test. The $90 covers everything. If you want to send your hesi scores to another school then they will charge $15 for a hesi transcript. Take care and good luck!

I was worried about that, too. I called the school, they kept passing me back and forth from admissions to registrar to school of nursing. I finally spoke to someone at the SON after leaving a message. Emailing the info@son people is probably the best thing you can do to get a reply. I finally got a call back saying that my transcripts were processed like I had requested and they sent out my evaluation that same day.

@Courtney319-Do you know when you requested your transcripts to be sent to UTHSC? My were sent via speede on July 26th and the school did confirm they received them. I haven't received an eval yet either, but I figured after Sept 1 they would start going out. But it would make sense to send it before the deadline so we can correct any errors....? idk, that part makes me nervous lol

So is their anything you can do to not have your scores sent toUt-health! I was taking my test today and had to leave halfway through theTest I just wanna get my second test scores cancled because I only did three sections, now idk what to do! I was having the worst migraine imaginable and couldn't focus at all,I just want to stay with my first test scores but I dont know if I even can!
