UTHSC-Houston Spring 2013

Published

Hi,

I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.

Thanks for your comments

So is their anything you can do to not have your scores sent toUt-health! I was taking my test today and had to leave halfway through theTest I just wanna get my second test scores cancled because I only did three sections, now idk what to do! I was having the worst migraine imaginable and couldn't focus at all,I just want to stay with my first test scores but I dont know if I even can!

Sorry about that Tess. Hope you are feeling better. I really don't know about your situation, you might have to call the advisors for that. Take care

@Courtney319-Do you know when you requested your transcripts to be sent to UTHSC? My were sent via speede on July 26th and the school did confirm they received them. I haven't received an eval yet either, but I figured after Sept 1 they would start going out. But it would make sense to send it before the deadline so we can correct any errors....? idk, that part makes me nervous lol

The correcting errors part was the exact worry I had. When I talked to the woman on the phone, she told me I would be fine even if I didn't get the evaluation in the mail until after the deadline as long as I had everything in on time and that I had 40 out of 60 hrs finished, 8 of them being sciences. So as long as you're sure that you don't have 20 hours unaccounted for or an error in 20 of your hours, you'll be fine. (And obviously you had to have paid your app fee and taken the HESI along with sending transcripts and applying, lol, but those are givens).

On previous posts for UTHSC applicants, the posters compiled a list of everyone's stats, so I thought it might be helpful to do the same here.

According to the Evolve site, the HESI "class average" scores are 88% on the math section, 89% on reading comprehension, 87% on grammar, 79% on vocab, 80% on A&P, and 782 on critical thinking. If this is true, we have a very good batch of scores here! :) Hopefully we'll all be accepted into the program.

The deadline is only 2 weeks away now and approaching quickly. How is everyone doing? I think I'll feel a little more relieved after the deadline has passed and after fall classes have begun, but I'll probably start getting nervous/anxious again once October arrives. This upcoming semester, I'll be finishing up my pre-reqs/associates of science degree at HCC. I'm taking intro to ethics, my second semester of history, intro to mass communication, and an arts class to fulfill my visual/performing arts requirement (not sure which class yet). I considered taking general chemistry II because I heard that makes patho easier, but I remember how much I despised chem I and how hard I had to work to do well in that class, and I don't feel like torturing myself much more than necessary :). What will everyone else be taking this fall?

Wow I am competing with the elite class. I'm so nervous looking at all your scores. I keep thinking if I have a shot at this program. Great scores everyone! I will be taking chemistry again because I took it in 2001, and other universities won't accept my previous class because it is 10 years old. I wish everyone the best, and I know that each one of y'all will be accepted easily.

Thank you Oceanise!! It is much better to see the list than keep trying to look back on previous pages!! I am ready for the deadline to pass lol ready to begin the waiting game and see my application status turn to complete. I am taking Microbiology this fall and that is all I have left.

If anyone else has stats to share please use the list Oceanise created and add on!! :) I hope we all get in I think we would all make an awesome 2013 group of classmates/friends.

Awesome, thank you Oceanise! I am taking Intro to Ethics, Texas Gov't, and Statistical Methods of Psychology. I agree with desjt3...I think we could all make a great group of classmates/friends and study groups! That is one of my only fears, getting into nursing school and not being able to form a group soon enough. I have friends who are nurses and they still go out with their nursing group (there's about 5 of them) and they'll even just go get sonic and hang out. They all work in the same hospital, just different floors. Anyway, I'd love to already know people when I get in. Sure takes off the pressure...

Completely agree it'd be awesome toHave a great group of us, once we get in we just got make it through :) which I know would be a lot easier with a great team of support

We seem to have a good bunch of people here and working together would definitely be a good idea. I'm all for it. :)

I agree with yall! I am so happy that I have an amazing group who are extremely gifted and intelligent. I have no doubt that we will all get accepted and excel in nursing school. Thank you so much for your help and helping me be a little more positive!

I sent my transcripts in for my submitted application about 2.5 weeks ago. I called today because my to-do list hadn't changed and I was told that it would not change until ALL my classes had been completed. She said that I can still be accepted, but that the to-do list won't ever change. I won't complete my classes till december, but she assure me it's ok. Has anyone else had this response? I would feel a lot better if it showed me that they actually recieved my transcript!!! Any ideas or help? :)

No worries! I have 3 to-do's on my To-do list. Two say "official transcripts" and one says "Hesi a2 scores". I complete my last class this fall so that is why the place holder is there. I also took my Hesi on August 10th so that hold wont be removed until the end of this month. We are in the same boat with the transcript to-do :)
