Hi,
I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.
Thanks for your comments
Thank you jayn108 and ajfernando! I'm really glad I joined. It'd be great to meet some people early on, so I'd definitely like to meet up at the info session. I was also wanting to get a better idea of how others are doing. I'm sure everyone wants to know the same.
Ajfernando: I did better on the HESI than I thought I would, actually. I just hope they're competitive scores. I'm not sure what's normal yet. How did you do?
Jayn108: Definitely looking forward to the session on Wednesday. Hope to see you there as well. How did you do on the HESI? Any ideas when they make their decisions?
Best of luck to you both!
If anyone else wants to meet up at the info session, I'm sure we'd all like to share info and stuff.
Good luck everyone!
Hello everyone! I'm also hoping to be accepted for the spring 2013 semester. My admission status recently changed from incomplete to complete on the my UHT website, so hopefully everything was received. I guess I should call tomorrow to make sure.
My overall grade on the HESI was a 96.8%.
Reading comprehension - 96%
Grammar - 98%
Vocab/General knowledge - 90%
Anatomy/Physiology - 100%
Math - 100%
Critical thinking - 850
Learning style - visual/global
Personality style - creative/leader (hmm do they actually consider these parts of the test when reviewing applications?)
GPA - 4.0
I'm finished with all of my science prereqs and I'll just be finishing up a few classes at HCC this fall (I still need to take HIST1302, PHIL2306, and an arts class). Unfortunately I can't make it to the information session on the 8th.
Good luck to everyone else who has applied/plans on applying! I'll definitely be following this thread. :)

Wow, your stats are great! I take my HESI next Friday so I'll wait til I get those results to post all my stuff. I am a little worried because I really won't be studying for the exam. I did plenty of studying for the TEAS-V exam, so I'm great on reading, grammar, and math. I could brush up on my A&P but I'm not sure if this one will be as difficult as the TEAS-V A&P was. I'm a little worried about the Critical thinking section though...
I was wondering how you guys prepared for the vocabulary section. That was my weakest section on the HESI. I'm retaking the exam on the 23rd of August. I'll be applying to the Spring 2013 program as well.
Hey iljc, the way I studied for the vocabulary section was to first of all remember all the words from the vocab section of the hesi book. Then to test my memory, I did quizlet hesi vocab quizzes online. It was a fun way to test out your knowledge and that's what helped me.

I am studying for the HESI and thats what I am doing right now. Hope it helps!
Wow, everyone has really good scores from what I've seen. I'm sure I'm not the only person getting nervous! I tried calling the school to see if they have my transcripts or if my application status is complete, but no one ever answers...
Prerequisite GPA - 3.95
Science GPA - 4.0
HESI scores:
Math - 98
Reading comprehension - 92
Grammar - 100
Vocab/General knowledge - 80
Anatomy/Physiology - 92
Critical thinking - 870
Cumulative: 92.4%
Vocab section was a little disappointing. Wasn't really sure how to study for that...but I hope these are competitive enough. I've read somewhere that anywhere from 800-1000 apply and only 80-100 are accepted. I hope I'm wrong!
heyjude91, I think I've seen your name on another forum. How many places did you apply? I unfortunately put all of my eggs in one basket Did you say you were going to the info session?
Hope to see many of you on Wednesday morning!
I am studying from the evolve admnission assessment, kaplan study guide and a math book I found on amazon. How about you? Good luck to you as well!
I didn't get the evolve admission assessment study guide, but I did get the Elsevier HESI admission assessment exam review book... wondering if I should have gotten the Evolve admission assessment book. I also have the Mometrix HESI A2 study guide. They both seem very general, but needless to say I'm studying these two and looking through old A&P notes and teaching myself A&PII stuff since I've not taken A&PII and I take the HESI on Aug 18... UGH! Slightly stressed, but trying to stay positive and focused! Thanks and good luck to you as well!
it sounds like you're well prepared with study material. i hear a lot of people like the fundamentals of nursing book for the ct section. i found out about it last minute though and didn't have time to buy it. are you going to the info session? i have the evolve book if you want it.
good luck on your hesi!

Hi! After several months of reading forums on allnurses, I finally joined a few days ago also. Haha. How did your HESI go? I was considering going to the information session on the 8th as well. Best of luck to you! :)
